Not sure of the exact circumstances, however, its funny how today any dog bite that draws blood means "vicious dog", unless the dog is under 20lbs.  I read the story and it seems to me the foster pulled apart two fighting dogs and got bit in the process.  What was he supposed to do, let them fight it out?  When I was a kid people got nipped all the time by various dogs and no one thought a thing about it, Blood drawn or no blood.  I know, I know, INSURANCE, but in most cases we are talking urgent care stitches, not maulings.  If super stressed out dogs cannot have reactions like this every once in a while, when being supervised by an inexperienced handler, soon we will only be allowed to own yorkies.

Not that this would be a good thing, but big dog owners should go OUT OF THIER WAY to report small dog bites, to skew the larger numbers used to discriminate against large breeds.  But I have read insurance companies already know "friendly looking breeds", "popular breeds" and "small dogs" generate just as many bites as GSD etc and don't want to upset the larger customer base that owns the above dog profiles

The best thing about this article is the fact that it is objective and does not point fingers or take sides.  It's factual responsible journalism, no personal opinions, no agenda.  Too many times these days paper as well as internet, radio and television journalists seem to think their personal opinion is supposed matters and supersedes the simple reporting of the story.  There is no such thing as honest reporting anymore, everything's an editorial.

The way I see it, several things went wrong here first, the vet that neutered the dog was irresponsible and seems was more interested in getting the fee for a surgery.  Second, the rescue that accepted ownership of this dog should never have placed it with this "foster home".  Third, the "foster parent" that took this dog to a dog park is a moron, enough said.  Fourth, DOG PARKS SUCK, again,,,,,,,enough said.  This is purely a case of the poor animal ownership/management skills that are so prevalent in today's America.  This animal was doomed from the get go, probably a backyard breeding that was sold to an inexperienced, overestimated pet home, dumped on a shelter's doorstep because someone was allergic or they were moving and the first answer to all of his "conditions" was to snip off his scrotum and cut a pack of dogs loose on him.  Then before any further bonding or relationship building was done, let him run around with existing family members at home and get him (and "Foster" Brooks) chewed up.  Maybe a copy of The Monks or a subscription to German Shepherd Quarterly can help,,,no wait, go to Uncle Eddie's website and ask his forum, I hear Eddie's a genius and might have a video for you.  Too bad for the dog.

I agree Duderino about the jounalist. Her goal is the dogs life. That is why she is writing this story. Not reporting the dog bite but designed to save the dog. No need for her to do any finger pointing that is what the PDB is for lol.

Keep this topic going.  It needs to be at the top of active posts for others to see it, read it and take action.  I have posted on idiotic rescues here before and this is no different.  Hopefuly people taking action can get this dog into the hands of someone with real experience.

I signed the petition and wrote to the board members. Anyone heard how it's going today? I can't understand how they come to the conclusion about Alex. He wasn't given  a half of a chance. He's beautiful. Why does he have to pay the ultimate price for someone else's incompetence? Sign if you haven't,  write letters if you can. Thanks to the ones who started this and the others who are keeping it going.
