I am helping an acquaintance find a breeder by the name of Tammy Hulvey who lives in Missouri. My first thought is that she is a puppy mill, but this lady needs to get in touch with her because she purchased a puppy from her who has SEVERE EPI and aggression problems. Unfortunately, she didn't know about getting a guarantee or checking references or anything, so she's probably most likely stuck with a sick and aggressive dog. I am just trying to help her to find this breeder.
Also, does anyone know about a natural supplement to help with EPI? This lady really does love her dog and wants to be able to have her healthy but the cost of the enzyme is just about breaking her. Any info on EPI supplementing or natural feeding for a GSD like this would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Peggy

Knightenhaus, there have been several posts lately dealing with how to treat EPI. Go to "Search Messageboard" and look up the words "pancreas" or "pancreatic" and see where that takes you.
I don't know this breeder, and can't help you there.

Peggy, you're a saint to help this lady. I've been through the struggle with EPI, and it broke my bank, too. Best wishes to her.

EPI need not break one's bank. There are ways to treat it and I have already helped with several posts on that subject, as have several others. Search the site and if you can not find that, let us know.
As for the aggression issues, more often than not these are problems that are, at the very least, exacerbated by owners who do not have the knowledge or skills to handle certain dogs. Normally, the right thing to do in this case is find a competent person to help. But in some areas, that can be very difficult.

I did a quick google on the name you mentioned. They are listed as a USDA breeder here:http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ac/publications/reports/A_cert_holders.txt
Saw some nextday pet ads also for puppies. If you google the name you'll probably find a phone number/contact info as well.

I treated a german shepherd of my own for about 4yrs who also had severe EPI. There is many teatment options that are not too expensive. Please email me privately and I would love to help you out as I have plenty of info and resources to help her out.

Check out this website. It is a message board for dogs with EPI. It is extremely helpful and also a resource to order the enzymes for a fraction of the cost compared to the vets' cost.
