Any experience with Byrak progeny or linebreedings on him and their ability to do SchH/IPO? Specifically grips and tracking abilities? Pros and cons for SchH/IPO?

Feel free to give me a call or PM me if you would like more specific info on Byrak and his progeny. He was an excellent gripping dog and usually passed this down to his progeny as well as flashy OB, nice entries, high food/toy drives, very good hunt/search work but tracking could sometimes be a little hectic due to reactivity and drive (tracking too fast etc). Also, Byrak normally threw a good amount of aggression which is either a good or bad thing depending on your skill level as a handler/trainer and what type of dog you are looking for. If you are heavy handed and unfair...its a disaster and they will eventually let you know they have had it, if you are balanced it is usually a flashy, welcomed edge to the dog's work.
Of course you have other strong influencing factors such as the bitch and the training and there are sh*tters in every line but these are traits I have consistantly seen in Byrak progeny. I've have owned (and still have a few) many of his kids, more than anyone else has so I can give my honest opinion on what I have seen.
I have a page for him on my site www.Loucyn.com/Byrak.html
I hope this gives you some of the answers you were looking for.

I own a 4 yr old male (Baron) line bred on Dovre Fjeld Xhone 2-3. Titled multiple times SchH3 and French Ring3 (shown nationally in both sports). Love the nerve stability and power of the dog; highly versatile IMO.

I have a Byrak son, Bravo. He is about 6 1/2yrs now. He is my pride and joy. I don't know enough about the different protection sports to comment in that direction but I can say that Bravo will do anything I ask him to as long as he can do it at top speed. He is VERY fast, VERY flashy, and VERY intelligent. The bitework I have done with him he has great full grips, sometimes not calm but I'm sure that is more training/handling error than dog. I always have to remind the decoys or tell the new ones that he HITS LIKE A ROCKET!!!! He does not slow down and drives right thru the decoy, most of them are used to shepherds that seem to let up at the last step, NOT BRAVO. I always get comments about him when we work. Everyone loves to watch him. He has been my demo dog for Sit Means Sit since he was 7wks old. He has never not given the people the show they have wanted. We attempted tracking a few years ago, and I'm sure with a more experienced tracking handler/trainer he would have done better, but I had a hard time getting him to slow down to smell the track. He is 90mph, all the time when working. He was excellent at airscenting and always found the person, but it was not so much of a track. AGAIN, I have NO doubt that he could do it, but I got frustrated trying to teach him on my own so I decided to leave it alone. He is and always has been alot of dog. Half of his litter was rehomed by the time they were 6months old cause the people didn't know what they were getting. The littermates I have kept track of have all done a wonderful job where they are, and do what they do very well. Hope that helps.
