Hey guys i have a problem
I was using the furminator before and i started seeing scabs on my dog....i attributed it to the furminator potentially scraping on his skin while i brushed, and i prolly was brushing too hard and i try not to brush so hard, but when i dont put some force behind it i dont get any hair....
I switched to a regular rake and im still having the same problem...
Is there something out there that works on our GSD that has some type of rubber tips or ball tips that wont dig and cut his skin when i brush...
He has a lot of hair but isnt as long as most i see which i can also see how the the rakes can dig and scratch his skin when i brush....
I really appreciate the help because all his hair is getting annoying from not brushing! lol...HELP! lol

Rubber curry comb maybe.

So do you think this is the "winner" or do you (or anyone else) have any other ideas?
Looking back i wonder how many scabs he had throughout his life so far because i used the furminator, and i would prolly open up old scabs by brushing and never even knew for however long....

I didn't say it was the winner. I can't see you dog, I have no idea how short his coat is, what sort of scabs are being pulled up, how hard you're grooming him any of that.
You asked about a rubber tip or ball tip. A rubber curry comb was my response to that description.

i didnt mean it how you took my response so please understand that, i know what i asked so there no reason to reiterate it to me unless you took my response a wrong way...
I was just asking before i went out and bought one...i see that they arent very expensive so it isnt really a risk to spend money on one....
Sorry for bugging you...

I use a greyhound comb and a forced air dryer. The shed out is amazing! clean up however is not much fun :)

A curry comb should help. A forced air dryer would, too ... but those are more expensive.

I agree with Bryn--I use a dryer and a greyhound comb. By the way Ramage you can get a small decent Metro dryer for about 60 if you research enough. I belong to a Yahoo list which is like an ongoing doggy garage sale. I got my metro dryer for 15 and 10 shipping. If anyone is interested I can post the link.
