This x-ray was sent to me by my friend. She just got her 2 year old dogs results back from the OFA and the dog was rated mild for hips. She wanted to know what I thought about it and if I agreed with the findings. I am not an expert at reading x-rays so I thought I would post this here and get your opinions. What do you all think about the positioning?
Here's the x-ray:

I really don't think positioning would do much. I can't tell if the legs are turned in the right position as I can see the knees.
However, still I don't think it would do much for the results.

Okay, so you agree with the rating of mild?

I agree with Mild and think she is lucky she got that.... :(

I agree w/the rating.

Unfortunately, I do no think the x-rays are very good; the right side of the screen (probably the left hip) is not seated in the socket very well; the right hip is seated better, however, neither hip and socket have very good depth. In otherwards, I would like to see a better ball and socket depth; MILD is probably about as good as you will get for this dog. So sorry I know how disappointing this can be. But if the dog is doing OK; hopefully with any luck they will not give her any trouble. I would probably keep building this dog's muscle up with swimming and low impact exercise like walking in sand. Best of luck with her, Nan

They were generous. Moderate SV and OFA

I agree the positioning is not very good but I think it would not help to get them redone and agree dysplastic.

The rating seems correct.
I've seen far worse that received Moderate...(according to the original posters)...

Yet another reason I am not a big fan of OFA. I agree w/the dysplastic rating, but these hips are really worse than mild (or at least far worse than other hips I've seen them rate mild) and I would've guessed they'd say moderate. I guess it doesn't make a huge difference in this case, but the huge variation in opinions is what scares me about OFA. This panel must've been really kind.
