I received e mail from someone i know regarding Rutherford Humane Society (contact regarding Coal 828-625-9361)..she wanted to know if i was interested (a while back before i got Bailey i asked her to contact me if she comes across GSD) Anyways...this is the picture and description...
Does this boy look like a Mix to you?
Few concerns....he does not look like a mix to me...neither does he look like a 7 month old..maybe 4-5 months..ears are in process of standing up or could that be the lab flop?

any thoughts?

Coal is a male shepherd-lab mix, about 7 months old.  He gets along well with the foster’s dog, cat and children.  He is very loving and well-mannered.  He prefers to stay inside.

The head looks lab to me.

I say this because one of my father's labs has a head just like his, with the large, oval sized skull/ears, tapering down into a rectangular muzzle.

Hard to tell from one picture, but he looks GSD to me also.   I wonder if he has all his adult teeth, and if that is how they determined his age?  He looks small though.

I'd guess he's a 4-5 month old GSD with lighter eyes.

Looks all GSD to me :)

I amnot sure whether he's 100% GSD or mixed but those ears do not and may never have the correct erect and parallel set of a correct GSD.

I think he looks like a Doberman x Shepherd cross but hard to tell from just one picture.

He looks "younger" in the picture.....but without seeing his dentition, it's really hard to speculate.
He has weaker, wide set ears & light eyes....but this is found in many bloodlines...so one cannot judge his being of pure-bred because of them.
Without actually knowing his parentage...one can only guess his true breeding.
*If I were to take a guess (solely on the picture posted)....I could easily assume that he is A GSD puppy of some sort of working or a mixture with working bloodlines.*
He sure looks sad.....poor little guy.

TO ME HE LOOKS MIXED(WITH WHAT I HAVE NO CLUE).LOOKS LIKE HE  WILL MAKE SOMEONE A GREAT BUDDY. WILL YOU BE TAKING HIM?

I will not be taking him.....

It's hard to say "no" but i know my limits...i rather have 3 dogs who are busy and have a life outside of the kennel than multitude of "saved" dogs with regular meals but bored out of their mind.

There is a phone number in original post if anyone is interested....unfortunately i can't save them all..
