The title says it all! Erik got his BH yesterday as planned and on schedule. I am so glad I took him to Tractor Supply for that traffic proofing, sometimes that gets forgotten behind wanting to have a good, pretty obedience but man did our judge give the BHs a solid, challenging traffic/temperment test!
Afterwards I was pondering on my case of nerves while waiting to go on the field, because Erik is the third dog I've put a BH on, I should have been an 'old hat' at this. I realized, despite it's rather humble requirements compared to the rest of our sport, it is truly the first step on the journey down most any of the other titles. Once you have the BH you can pursue the other SchH titles, the tracking titles, etc and getting through it is a big (if not always pretty!) step for a young dog.
So congrats to Erik! Now, onwards and upwards!!
