*Thank you!*
We are pretty happy with this entire litter of 4 puppies. (2m & 2F).
The litter-mates were just shown and both placed VP2 in their classes.....so we are hoping that these 2 can do as well.
All 4 puppies have good strong temperaments & nice drives.....so it's been a very hard decision on whom to keep.....*that's a good thing!*

Thanks for posting the pics Jody!

disclaimer: the following is my opinion only, based on a photograph, without having seen the pups, having spent my entire time with the GSD in the conformation ring.

I hope that covers everything for everybody.

I have pretty much stopped commenting on dogs here, especially puppies. There are just too many 12 week old Grand Victors who grow out of the promise for one reason or another.

So for what it's worth, I have been looking at these pics several times a day for the last week or so. The GSD world I come from is based almost 100% on shoulder construction and both these seem to have as good as I have ever seen. just looking at the length of neck tells how the blade is laid back. The upper arm is in text book placement. I am willing to bet that if someone (maybe our friend Ibrihim) would do the angle on these shoulders that they are pretty close to the "mythical" 90 degrees.

The next thing is how uniform they are. I am also willing to bet that these 2 could be placed with 10 others and most could pick them out as littermates. Uniformity in a litter is not as easy to achieve as it may seem.

The bone, color, rear angles are excellent, IMHO. I would like to see just a tad firmer pastern on the female, but time will probably solve this and that is just being nit picky.

I don't know the sire or damn, but one of them is very potent for passing on the type they have.

Judy, did you breed these pups. Congrats and hoping they both reach the potential they show now.

I guess I saw "Jody" and thought Judy. Who owns these pups.

Hello Rik!

Thank you for such a nice compliment!
We bred the father AND the litter!  We currently still own all 4 puppies in the litter. We plan to campaign them for the NASS, and introduce a small but quality progeny group.....God willing!
*The best thing about the youngsters is, they are not only structurally nice...they have good drives and temperament as well.*
Thanks again!

unless I misunderstood something, this is the 3rd generation from this breeder that they have intimate knowledge of.

I am not recommending this breeder in particular, but that the novice pay attention to things like this. After 3 generations, a good breeder will have a pretty good understanding of what they are dealing with, what they are trying to enhance and what they need to eliminate. and everyone is dealing with something.

every year there are dogs from the same 2 or 3 kennels in North America represented at the Universal Sieger (US). 2 different "novices" have given their stories in other threads. and while the trainers had to make a strong commitment, the dogs were no accident in breeding. The breeders have stuck through producing what they believe in until they can do it with some accuracy.

I like to see the same name running through a pedigree (if it is a good breeder). they will have already dealt with issues that I don't want to spend the years finding out about.

and there are excellent dogs produced with a different breeder every generation. but I will say that seldom will one see much consistency or uniformity.

woke up early and just,

ramblin Rik
