My dog is now about 3.5 years old. He is a great dog. He is a german import that now weights about 95 lbs give or take. The question I have is about his neck. I havent really measured it but to me it looks like it is a little on the skinny side. He is a solid dog and pretty muscular everywhere else. I have to mention that up until a few days ago, he wore a fursaver collar religiously with his tags on it. Even when he was just in the dog run in the yard he had it on. My understanding was, even if this collar moves around while he moves, it saves the fur hence the name "fursaver."
Was I wrong to think it wouldnt break some of the hair down and make his neck look smaller? I see a lot of people's pics and thier dogs necks are a lot bigger, but it looks like it is mostly hair and loose thick skin. A cousin of mine who also has a shepherd said she had this problem with the fur saver. In his pics on this site he had an E collar on that you cannot see so the pics arent really accurate to judge it.
Also has anyone used the weighted collars, I got mine from Leerburg, to try to put some size on thier dogs neck? Help me out guys.

There are pics on here. His name is Bailey Vom Nadelhaus. He isnt actually a Nadelhaus dog, but they put thier name on him since they imported him. The pics arent very helpful though beacuse the main pic is of him with a bark collar on. You cant see the collar under his fur but its on pulled close. Some of the other pics are of him when he was younger. He is about 90-95 pounds at the moment. I dont want a bull mastiff neck, but his neck slims from his head down to his shoulders unlike a lot of pics I see where the neck goes from the jawline down into the shoulder area at an even slope, if that makes any sense.
His neck itself is muscular to the feel and he has a decent amount of the thick lose skin around it, Im just hoping that maybe the fursaver broke down some of the hairs and made it look different. I wonder if the pics I am seeing are just of a nice thick layer of hair that hasnt been disturbed by any sort of collar. He isnt wearing anytthing now so lets hope the hair grows in!

i do not leave collars on my dogs when i am home...and i take it off when they are in a kennel...i have fursavers and they are not really any different than chain chokers when it comes to saving fur (thats just my opinion based on my observation)...i had chains on 2 of my dogs for almost all of the year 2008 and 2009, than I started taking them off regularly and fur was back in full and it looked good...than I bought fursavers about 10 months ago..left it on thinking it will save their fur....but it had almost the same effect as when i had chokers on so since February i went back to no collars on when i am home and I can already see a huge difference....
