... there were issues once we signed on dotted line LONG story.
Once the pup hit 8 months old... he just fell over dead. He was just a vets too.
I want my money back he was expensive. THey offerd another pup but to say the least I am spooked.
He looked to be a rep breeder.. NOW i am finding out other things.
Any suggestions?
And yes I have vet paper work.

Fell over dead FROM WHAT? I doubt anyone can offer any suggestions without having that information. If he died because he ate something that blocked his intestines, for example, how on earth could the breeder have forseen THAT?
The one thing that isn't dependant upon what the dog died from is whether the contract you have with the breeder provides for any refund of purchase price, and under what circumstances such a refund would be given.

if you had a contract, i am sure the breeder would of wanted a nacropy to find out what the pup died of, i would be happy that you get a replacement. most breeder dont give money back, atleast the breeder is tallking to you ,the breeders i have experience with wont even return a call or email.
and if you dont like your replacement , i would sell the pup to get some of your money back .
good luck

After 8 months of life is the breeder still liable? I guess depending on the exact cause of death but that seems extended. After my pup turned 8 months I had way more influence on her health than the breeder excluding heriditary things.

Since you didnt do neucropsy how will anyone know what he died from? Also what research did you do BEFORE you bought your dog? Did the breeder come recommended? How are other pups doing from the litter? What does the contract say that you signed? They offered to give you another puppy. Thats more than some do these days. What is alot of money? What were the "issues" you had before this happened? Maybe you did those things but didnt elaborate with what you typed?
So many questions. Hmmm

Also when you say issues when you signed on the dotted line what do you mean? Health issues? Did you have the pup vet checked after bringing him home? was he found to be of sound health? or did you not bother, as im sure this would have been a recommendation on the breeders contract also. Was your dog insured? Insurances pay out on death on the most part - some depending on age I believe.

Something to consider....do you have a neighbor that doesn't like your dogs? We never found out what happen to our dogs, but your breeder is being very nice and I'd take his offer....very few breeders are selfless enough to offer a replacement on a pup that died at 8 months old, you can't expect a breeder to guarantee the dogs health forever when you aren't even sure if it was genetic, which it could have been, I am only saying it could be genetic because my 2 dogs that dropped dead were sisters, they died 2 months apart and for no reason but we had a neighbor that hated our dogs.
