I have been contacted by a UK company seling very small microchips. They have contacted me as a breeder and the information was that these half size chips were being bought by vets because they were better, didnt migrate, and were kinder to implant.
I disagreed, as I had been given technical data on these new small chips a little while ago, and the company itself actually says that they are "almost as easy to read" I asked for their technical guy,
He tried to tell me that they were coated with the same material that were used on breast implants, and they didnt move !!
He tried to tell me that they were as good at being read as the conventional ones - but he "was aware and knew" the company spec said differently.
He said vets were ordering them because customers were asking for them (unsurprisingly if he was adveritising them)
I asked the actual spec of the material that they were coated in to stop them "migrating".
He was challenged - as I knew it wasnt for use in the human body when he told me what it was it is a derivitave of the real composition...- he was also challenged ......and said it didnt affect migration after all it was "just a good coating"
I asked where they were manufactured and by whom. He said Thailand, and by hand. I questioned the "by hand" bit for sterility and he said that the machine hadnt yet been made to produce them.
He confirmed that his market was targeting breeders and implanters - and got very fed up with me and said if I didnt want them it was ok.
Guess what - I didnt, and I would ask anyone approached by these people to think very carefully, as the warning signs given to me as above by their own "tech Guy" speak volumes I believe. Mo.
