For my own edification Im trying to put together all of the players in the working dog world and how they relate to each other, i.e. AKC is FCI acknowledged breed registry for USA. AWDF is FCI applicant for membership under which the UScA exists. WDA is working dog arm or the GSDCA.
Im primarily looking at this from a GSD perspective.
The players Im aware of are
AWDF
UScA
FCI
AKC
GSDCA
WDF
WUSV
SV
DVG
Some of these I understand the relationship for others I have no clue and on who have no idea if there is any interrelation. Please feel free to post information on each, let me know about any Im unaware of. I'd like to understand the parent/child relationship for each - i.e. I don't know who the USA DVG is sanctioned by and what that orgs name is. Id like to put together a power-point that diagrams it all.
Thanks,

Hi all,
I agree with Calvin. I would also like a little more insight to the "Who's who".
Thank you

Hi Calvin, & Charity,
The AWDF is the umbrella organization for 13 member clubs, including the USA. information can be found at www.AWDF.net
The FCI & the AKC are the biggest registries in Europe & America. While the AKC offers a variety of events, most are not geared toward the working dog, or the working community. That's where the AWDF member clubs come into play. These clubs offer alternatives to the working community here in America.
The GSDCA is the German Shepherd Dog Club of America, & is a member of the AKC. The WDA is associated with the GSDCA, but they lean toward the European style of dog They offer working & show options for GSD enthusiasts.
The WUSV is the World Union of German Shepherds, which we here in America are a part of.
The SV is the GSD club in Germany.
The DVG is the all breed SchH performance club here in America. I might add they are soon the become members of the AWDF
