My three year old GSD, working lines, only weighs 55 lbs. The weight loss happened over a six month time. I spent much money on vet second opinions, but no accurate diagnosis so far. He has no fiver, is energetic, I now let him eat as much as he wants to eat, has solid stools. Ultra sound revealed only a slightly enlarged spleen, liver shunt is not present, enzyme supplement did nothing, thyroid checks out, pancreas checks out. Does anyone have a suggestion, or where there might be a special vet clinic/school that might be of help? Thank you.

Have you tested for tick diseases?

Have you checked for giardia?  Can just give the giardia shot, as a lot of times one cannot detect the varmint itself.

Have you checked for EPI?  Need to send blood to Tx A&M.  Ask for levels of B 12 done there in addition!

Dr Clark at a SC University was at A&M.  She is working to find the cause of EPI and Mega E.  [She is needing donations for her studies.]  But you send the blood to Tx A&M, not to her place.
