Also remember give the dog a little food before giving this medication, as it can cause vomiting until the gut has accepted the first few doses, and it eases its strong affect on the gut lining when the dog has food ingested. I havent heard that you can`t use it on pregnant females, and if your female has an infection that is likely to need this drug, and your vet says its safe, then I would say your need to quell the infection in a pregnant female out weighs the worry that your vet might be wrong - google it also might give you the contraindications if you are really concerned that your vet isnt correct. About ten years ago I had a pregnant female that was on clavamox and when she delivered
she had it was either one or two pups that had a very strange birth defect that I had never seen in any previous litters out of the same bitch, or for that matter, ever in my whole life, and till this day hope to never see again.
I would never use clavamox on a pregnant dog ever again,
just because of what I saw....

I won't even give my pregnant females heart worm medicine, after seeing that, especially when the
pups are born at 2AM in the morning, you're half asleep as it is, and to see something like that, eek.
Never had anything like that happen again, so I can only assume it had to have been the clavamox.
