If I was to get a puppy from this sire and dam to be used for protection, and companionship.

Anybody with pedigree knowledge and info would be lovely.

Thank you kindly.

I'm not familiar with these lines, but they are clearly showline.  If you truely want a protection dog you will not find what you want in a showline.  However, if you just want a deterrent dog that barks they would work fine.

lol Come try hurt us or get in my house with showlines :) Not all showlines lack work ability or protection. My dogs can do anything I put them to. Today, I was so proud my 11 month old going out on our new boat first time with lures flying around and large birds flying over. Water spraying up, the boat speeding along or flopping in the wakes left by the other boats, not rocking the boat nor trying to get out and was walking the top decks looking into the water, along with confident and stable confidence on unsure footing and floating docks and able to sit still and quiet when commanded to do so and still just a puppy of an active 11 months old.

I am not familar with these lines specifically. What I see that is on the pedigrees is several A2 hips not just here and there and on both sides. I also do not see titles or health testing posted for either the sire or the bitch? Photos can sometimes be misleading of the dogs and I am only going by what I see in these but I am personally not crazy about the bitch photo. These could all be wrong opinions depending upon better photos of the dog and or missing information this is only what I see in the links. Do you have abreeder website for us to see more?

GSDNewbie- I think it may be an old picture of her. Here's the most recent one I got off their website

I think the male's pic on pedigreedatabase is the most recent one, this one seems older

I did notice showlines definately have confidence. So, I am definately set on a showline (and not trying to start an arguement on which is better) just don't know much about pedigrees and seeing if anyone can help me with decyphering it.
Thank you

lira , it depends what you expect from a protection dog , but if you really want showlines , altenbergerland is a kennel with above average caracters in the showlines

however to bring out the best in these lines you will need very skilled training guidance

if your showline after all doesnot work out for you , dont say nobody warned you

I now see they say hips and elbows posted on that website link. I see one dog has an sg < not sire or dam> and that is it. No working titles and no conformation titles on the sire or dam. I would if you are looking for a working dog buy from a litter that has proven can work. If titles are not important to you then you must see the dogs work in person IMO I prefer to see them work myself either on video or in person anyhow even with titles. If you expect a dog to do protection the sire and dam must show an ability to work clear headed and a drive for work and an ability/drive to protect. I do have showlines that work, however they were also selected from parentage that have shown they work along with specific puppy selection that showed an aptitude for it as well.

hey I have a puppy by them, she's pretty good. Seems a little late maturing on bite and protection training.
That's just my opinion, but who am I to judge? lol
Can anyone confirm that these lines are late maturing? Someone told me that not too long ago too.
She listens well and picks up stuff quick, just doesn't hold on when she bites just yet.
It's really easy to pull a tug or a rope away from her, but she for sure has the drive.

Don't know the dogs specifically; but just be sure your health checks are in order;  hips/elbows/ DM; cardio/VWD; throid, eye cerf's.  Very, very important as if you do not have health you have nothing.

My showline dog line bred on Kimon van dan Alheadys Hoeve of Wildesteiger Land lines excels in personal protection, extemely territorial, sharp and civil for a showline dog, but a difficult dog to handle around strangers and other dogs. Not the type of dog you could take to a family barbecue or have the kids freinds interact with him in the backyard. I prefer the stability of a good working line dog and find showlines with enough civil drive for protection work are generally way over sharp in a pet environment.
