I've adopted an aprox two year old male dark red/blk sable about two weeks ago who turned out to be a Bartmess dog siezed in the neglect case last month. I'm wondering if anyone has any more information on these individual dogs and heir bloodlines/history. He is very loved, goes on daily 4-6 mile hikes, and is learning to live in polite society after his rocky upbringing. He isn't handshy or afraid of anyone or anything, just a total blank slate knowing not one single command and unfamiliar with things like stairs, vacuums, and getting in a cars. He's a gorgeous dog and I knew there had to be some weird story as to why a clearly well bred DDR boy would end up in rescue, a little poking around and I got my answer! Anyone with more info please let me know, thanks!

Can't help you with the bloodlines or history but I'm glad to hear that at least one of the dogs is now in a home with someone who will care for him.  Good for you for adopting him!

how have you determined that he is ddr?

He was Janice Bartmess' dog, as the topic says. They know exactly what he is.

Yes, it started out as an educated guess and it has since been confirmed that he was seized from her disbanded kennel. My interest is purely for curiosity's sake, he is now neutered and very loved along with my other two shepherds. He came to me with a blank Eurochip and no other real insight to his previous life, thanks again for any that you can provide:)

I have an 8 month old very darksable female I adopted from her Arek x Hessie litter. She is an amazing dog with no fear or issues at all.
