My dog has been in heat for 14 days now and I took her to the vet on her 11th day and 14th day and when the vet did smear test on her, she said she is still not ready. Is this normal? I was told the best time to breed was during the 11th to the 14th day. And the vet said she might even be another 48hours or so away.

Hey, my female was always 'late'. Took her to the stud faithfully days 8-14 to see if they would breed, no luck. Stopped by 2 days later with her to just talk to the stud owner. Let her out and the 'deed' was done in less than 5 mins and she had 8 pups 61 days later, with only the one tie.

how long did your female bleed for? my was bleeding dark red for 12 days and now on day 14 the color change to salmon color.
