There is a "breeder" (using the term loosely) here in Ohio that is selling GSD Puppies. It's concerns me that this person is claiming to be members of clubs that she is not, has several complaints with the BBB and with the Ohio Attorney General's Office, and has a record a mile long with the Humane Society! What really gets my goat is this.... With all this, this person is STILL allowed to have a Kennel License!!!! Her ad states that her weakest pup that will out beat anything on the field today is only $350, but her prices go up to about $1200 per puppy. (These prices are WITHOUT AKC papers, you have to pay additional for "breeding rights") She REQUIRES that everyone sign a 2 yr. training contract with her (for additional fees ofcourse), and refuses to give people a copy of her contract or peidgrees on the parents. Can someone please explain to me what is "typical" when selling a puppy to someone? And should Buyer Beware of this person?

Do you mind if you let us all know who this lady is? Does she know about this site?

Brittany,
I do not know if she knows about this site. I have not spoken or had any contact with this person since she stole 3 of my dogs in 2002. I would prefer not to give a name on open forum, however, is someone would like to personally contact me @ ladywolf45169@yahoo.com , I would be more than happy to share the hard evidence (in black and white) that I have. :)

"Can someone please explain to me what is "typical" when selling a puppy to someone?" Ladywolf, I think that very many of us can do this. My remarks may sometimes sound like a wisecrack, but that is not how they are intended.
I think that one can compare it to any other major purchase with that they must live for a very long time, such as a new automobile or a home. In my opinion the homework done prior to the purchase of a puppy is just as important as any of the aforementioned items.
First; what are the buyer's INTENTIONS and EXPECTATIONS for the puppy? Show, work, breeding, pet/companion? Second; what are the breeder's intentions and expectations for the puppy? Show, work, breeding, pet/companion, or just cash money in my pocket?
As far as paperwork, a home comes with a deed, an automobile comes with a title, so it makes absolute sense that a puppy comes with a registration application and certfied pedigree doesn't it?
As far as a two-year training contract is concerned; this is for what type(s) of training?
Finally, my opinion based solely upon your statements. A buyer should run, not walk way from a "breeder" such as this person.

Dont be involved with so called weak or last pick puppys / dogs with no papers / limited registrations /breeding rights etc. / more money for papers etc. / signing your life away with worthless contracts. Cant give you pedigrees because she does not have them. I wont give you same advice Bob did because you are already aware of these peoples reputation, speaks for itself.

Oh yeah, vom Brunhaus I agree with you. I probably could have made my post effective by only typing the last statement that I made. It's amazing that this type of "breeder" exists, but they are out there.

Thank you both for your comments. It was my thought exactly. Guess I just needed to see it in black and white. ;-)
