My boy got his back paw pad cut on something while out walking the trails this morning. I sprayed paroxide on it and cleaned it off real good. But it has been bleeding slightly for about 15 min. Does he need to go to the vet or is there not much they can do and just let it heal.

LOL...sorry...i must say you got one pampered pooch...it's a cut it will bleed, as long as his toe is not hanging off by nothing but a skin it will heal and will be fine..he will lick it clean and it will close up within a week, maybe days (depending on how deep it is).
got kids? got tons of medical bills from ER visits?...just asking... :)

please tell me exactly what it is and what to ask the butcher for so that I can let my boy try it out. Do you feed your dog's anything other than that on that day?
by LadyFrost on 21 April 2011 - 18:04
not on Saturday but I do give them dinner on Sunday.
...all I say I want beef knuckle bone from large bone they usually cut the leg bone for me in 2 places for 3 dogs and I buy like 12 pieces...
ok, i did search online and I cant even find what I get, but it looks similar to these images, 1st one is how it looks when its sliced, which is what I used to get them, now i just give them the whole thing....a knuckle per dog.
I will take pictures this weekend so you can see.
this is sliced through knuckle bone average size i get is about 10-12 inch across
this is what base on knuckle bone looks like if they do not strip meat off too closely to the bone.

jwalker, make sure you don't feed large bones like oxtails and knuckles too often or your dog will either get stopped up, or poop dust for the next week or so.
ladyfrost, my dogs LOVE oxtails and knuckles too......except unfortunately even a large knuckle bone won't last longer than an hour or two with my man eaters :( i'm jealous your guys keep busy with it for a whole day!
here's a pic of a knuckle bone that doesn't have any meat on it, and is slightly gnawed on already, lol.

Make the dog stand in peroxide for a few min. than on a clean towel for a few min. make sure it is clean and dry and than put super glue on the cut and it is ready to go. when the glue is gone it should be healed up fine.
