Happened upon this guy http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=350571 and liked the demeanour he presents. He also has a pretty interesting pedigree.

Does anyone know more about either the dog or the kennel?

Don´t know so much about the kennel more than it´s from finland and the few dogs I´ve seen from them have been impressive. Don´t know if they are active or not, seems like they are breeding pure workinglines their more recent litters, but the dogs that have showlines from them seems pretty strong too, like the dog you asked about, or this one that was a WUSV-winner and militarydog,

I´ve seen a dog with the same mother like the one you asked about which had a litterbrother to the wusv-winner as a father, very "drivey" dog for having  much showblood, so I guess their "showdogs" from the late 80s  and early 90s was way better than many of the showdogs today.
