Why wrap this puppy's legs? An improper leg bandage can cause permenant damage to the paws? This is a photo from one of the ads and I have never seen such a thing.

Just a guess but maybe he had rear dewclaws removed.

Had rear dew claws removed. We had to have this done to one of our dogs because the breeder didn't bother to have it done before we bought her.

I've had rotts for years and we never banadaged for dew claw removals but those were always on the front... thanks for the suggestion.

I looked at that ad this morning and wondered about it too. My thought was wow they want 2 grand for him and his legs are all bandaged up--not much of a selling point--JMO.

At least it is a clean bandage.

Rear dewclaws should be removed when they are a day or two old. I have used cuticle scissors and they typically don't bleed much. Certainly nothing Mom can't handle.

jenn, you are a better man than I am. When I had dobes, took them to the vet at 3 days. I couldn't even watch, much less do it myself.
Have you done any circumcisions.

my shepherd pups where both w/o rear dewclaws and i feel their front ones are of use to them so i dont remove them. my female enjoys useing them to attach herself to the helper.
