well except for Volmonds Vasco, who is oversize, not titled or breed surveyed, but still one of the most impressive GSD I have ever seen.

Love Cuervo, and Vasco has bitework that would put many, many titled dogs to shame. Newly arrived to our area is V Dino v Freese Land, SchH3. When he was barely a week in the US and he allowed my 14 year old daughter to handle him in bitework. He was happy to work, showed full, calm grips. Dry, firm, and masculine male, nice topline, absolutely clear headed dog. A recent sperm check showed a very high count. I look forward to using him myself, he exhibits the mental balance I just adore. His owner's email is tog308@yahoo.com.

trixx, you have some very nice choices in your area. I envy you. I am going to Atlanta show this week end to see what may be available to me without a 12 hr. drive.

best in your choice,
Rik

I used to work w/Volmond's SIL. She seemed to have some very nice dogs...and I know $hit about showlines.

Maybe I need to switch; there are no studs around here I would use (that I know of).

jenn, you ain't a s/l person, so of course there are no s/l dogs you would use.

The OP came across as novice to me so I recommend a breeder in the area with an excellent stud and reputation and also one who can (and very willing) help them further their goals.

Sometimes in show, it ain't about what one knows, but who one knows. And if I was in this area, with s/l, these are the folks I would want to know.

Anyway, best to the OP on choosing a stud. The proof will be on the end of the leash and the placings.

Thank you Rik for your recommendation of Cuervo.
A stud dog's worth is in the progeny that they help to produce....and with the few breedings that Cuervo has fathered for us, he is proving to be an exceptional stud.

We are also in the process of bringing in a young male from Germany....
He is a Yukon son, ScH3 & KKL1. *He is a very, very promising young dog!!*  We are co-owning him with a very nice, honorable, local breeder....vom Hoksch Haus in Wisconsin.
Once he arrives, he will be conditioned and trained for the NASS 2011.
I will post pictures and pedigree info once he is actually here.....within the next 2 weeks.
Hopefully.....he will place well, and become a new excellent dog available for this area.

We are extremely proud of the young stud dogs carrying our Kennel name.
Cuervo, Ivan....and soon..(fingers crossed)..Primo von Huerta Hof.
*Can't forget to mention the next generation.....Topo, Uzo & "baby" XX Dos-Equis.yes
Respectfully,
Robin

Robin, I'm excited to see the Yukon son! Topo is beautiful, can't wait to see what he looks like at maturity.

Rik, if you're going to Atlanta, take a peek at Obsidian v d Blauen Bergen. A promising sable puppy with a great personality and stellar lines. I have fingers crossed that he matures into a stud quality dog, I would love to get some Kliff in my lines. His owner is great, too.

quick edit: Jenni- I think you can attribute the correctness of mind in Vollmond's dogs to the fabulous Karo v d Herdersfarm, a dog breeders were foolish to not utilize more. I had plans to use him but when my bitch went into season I was under a great deal of emotional and financial stress and decided it was not the best time to have a litter. To this day I kick myself.

Bea, when choosing a dog, take a good long look at the pedigree and ask yourself what you can do with it over future generations. There are always new dogs coming in, but it's worth doing a little planning ahead in case there is no new dog that you love for several years. For example, both Cuervo and Dino go back on the stellar producing Ginga Kristalsee, a bitch definitely worth linebreeding on, so these are two super valuable dogs for our area. I've done two breedings with Hannibal Steiglerhof sons in hopes of a Hill linebreeding down the road, so you bet I'm jumping up and down to hear about a new and local Yukon son. yes
