Hi rafdel74
Your pup should grow out of it in the next few months. I would not be woried at this stage of the pups life, It realy does not look that bad. A lot of American shepherd go through this stage. I bet your pups bite will correct it self by 7 months of age.
Have a wonderful time with your puppy.
God bless

The lower jaw is about the last part to stop growing... and you have a baby! It's not so unusual in youngsters... your Vet should know better!

I would actually consult with the breeders rather than the vet. The breeders should know more about the lines, how the dogs mature, whether there have been other problems with the teeth, etc. If the overbite is bad enough, the vet may have to intervene, but if it's more cosmetic, find out from the breeder whether they would expect the pup to outgrow it.

I had a vet tell me the samething a couple of years ago and my pup turned out fine. I think it's pretty normal as they grow.

Based on my experience this one is fairly slight and will probably correct itself by the time the dog has changed the canine teeth, by 6 months old it should be normal, no guarantees though!!

I also agree with all above >> not excessive at all >> the lower jaw is still growing and he will be fine in a few months. I have seen lots of jaws like that and they are all fine by 7 months.
Have fun with him.

Judging from your snap shots and the pups age...there is more than a 50% chance that this bite will become normal by the time all the teeth are through...that is if ALL the teeth come through and the
under-jaw develops in a normal fashion.
Having said that; there are no guantees!
Still though he would live an absolutely a normal life with that bite/jaw if it were to stay with the same gap...doubt very much that it will stay like that though.
Good luck!
