I have only seen a few good show line gsd when it comes to protection.  It is common knowledge that the quality of work a dog performs can be affected by the emotional state of the person working the dog.  For instance the lack of confidence from a handler can transfer to the dog affecting work quality.

Now to the point at hand.  Could it be that the dogs are perfectly fine working quality.  Could it in fact be the handlers transfering a lack of confidence and unsureness throug the leash, thus making these dogs more prone to being ran, and chewy grips or general disinterest in the work its self?

Please do not be offended just a question.

so most of the people handling Showline dogs are nervy and lack confidence, so the dogs resemble the owner's state?

interesting thought but I dont thing the show folks will agree..LOL

GSDPACK,

You hit the nail on the head, no pun intended

This would be a good thing for the showline dogs.  This would mean that they are not actually flawed.  My next dog will be a show line and I will test this new theory of mine.

If all works out my new thread will be titled "What comes first the hawk or the egg" as opposed to "chicken"

Your next dog? How about next 100 and from all different lines. A true test isn't based on one dog. If it was, we would have no need for SchH after the first dog passed.
