The breeders of Rin Tin Tin puppies participate in charity events, including placement of therapy dogs: http://www.rintintin.com/events.htm .

Edit: I take it back about the health tests. Some have a letter from the Ontario Veterinary College and some just say "x-rayed".

See this link here for details about the security work. It won't let me right-click, so I can't copy and paste.
www.rintintin.com/story.htm It's about 3/4 of the way down the page.
The dogs ARE tightly and carefully line-bred on the original Rin Tin TIn dogs, and their ancestry can be traced back to welll-known American lines, like Villa Marina, San Miguel, Bodyguard and Long Worth, and from there to German lines. (But of course the same can be said for most of the American dogs out there...)

Good morning sunsilver. To answer your question, the rin tin tin dogs temperaments are fine and have not, as you suggest, "gone down the crapper." The temperaments are great.
And for KCcaja - we do pre-lim x-ray our dogs and when they are of age we OVC or OFA hips and elbows. In addition, we guarantee our pups to OVC or OFA H&E.
A good number of our puppies are placed through A Rinty For Kids Foundation as service or pet assited therapy dogs for special needs children. We also have working SAR (live find and cadaver) dogs, we also have performing dogs for appearances and films. And some of our clients title their dogs in performance events at UKC and AKC shows. So out line is versitle.

I know the temperments must be stable and people-friendly in order to do the publicity and service/therapy work. But do they still have the ability to protect?

Is this Daphne Hereford or a spokesperson or a person with "Rin Tin Tin" as an author name?
