My pup doesnt have a drive wont chase a ball or a flirt pole.any advice in how to boost

Post the pedigree of the dog, you may have a dog with strong defence and low prey drive or a dud.

Spend time with your dog and you yourself show interest in what you want him to be interested in. Try throwing something into tall grass and see if he will look for it. When he finds praise a lot. Build confidence and dont put much pressure on him to chase. He has to want to do it.

at 5+ months... it is what it is...  For me, if he doesn't have enough prey drive to chase a ball he doesn't have enough prey drive to do the sport...

I would keep up the drive promotion and seek out an experienced trainer. If that doesn't work, I'd go to an e-collar.

I don't worry about drive. It's either there or it's not. I think you may be expecting way too much from this pup. Chill out, have patience and good things will come.
