Anything wrong with giving a pup a cooked beef bone, the type you can bou from the pets store?

I feed beef  bones to all my dogs once a week. But I don't feed the ones from a pet store. They are real brittle and prone to splinter. I go to the butcher shop and buy them by the box. I put them in a crock pot with about a 1/2" of water and cook on low for 2 hours cool and feed. They love them.

Cooking or freezing bone will make it much more likely to splinter. Bones should always be fed without cooking or freezing and with supervision so when the dog can start chipping it or it begins to fracture, it can be taken away and thrown out.

Exactly what is the point of cooking meat and or bones for a dog?

The reason I cook them is one summer I had fed some raw and in a few days I began to smell this gross smell. I finaly found the source was a part of a bone that a dog had hid and flys had got to it. You I cook these bones on low in a little water on low. It dries the blood and the bones don't get brittle. I've fed  them this way for 40 years and never had a problem with pups or older dogs. If you would rather feed raw  go for it their your dogs.

I feed raw with no problems. Feed it to them only in their crates. When I see they are thoroughly done with it, I take it and throw it out. Just make sure to clean the crate.
