What makes a dog a "one handler dog"?
What is your definition of the term?
Is it genetics? training? Personality? Lack of socialization?
Does one handler dog mean that he/she can't be social?
I will admit that a one handler dog is a trait that I like.
Do you tend to shy away or gravitate towards this type?

Sometimes its just the bond and display of the exact leadership that one dog requires.

I like it too, and I have one. Genetic.

I probably disagree with your definition of social, but I can take her out and about, and she would never listen to anyone but me.

My girl is a one person dog. She will go in the ring with the handler and will do OK but I think she would do a lot better if I was physically able to show her. She's very social around other people and dogs, has been socialized out the wazoo but she will not listen to anyone else. My mentor and the breeder's family wanted to go to the park here so they brought her over and at 9 wks old after they left she wanted nothing to do with me. Took her a couple of days to warm up. Don't know why she is like that but I like one person dogs.

My girl is like what Vonissk described very social w/people and other dogs but she won't listen to anyone else. She won't even go with them. I like that. My male will go with other people and is social with some dogs. he will go with someone else but always leave them to come back to me. I think of a "one person dog" is one that CANNOT be handled by anyone but his/her person. both my dogs do not fit that description. But obviously they prefer me over anyone else. I did have a GSD years ago that was a one person dog. She would not work for anybody else.
