Just gave my puppy his 10 week shot that was provided to me by the breeder. One hour later, he cant even walk and is falling over. Next he keeps shaking and drooling. Then vomitts. Take him to the vet and they give him a steriod shot and antihistamine. Now we have him on a IV and overnight stay.

Sounds like an allergic reaction, Breeder should have given the shot themself prior to giving you the pup.
Your pup is being seen by a Vet so all should be well. Good luck & Merry Christmas

Why would the breeder give a pup their 10 week shot? I'm guessing the OP got the pup at around 8 weeks as is commonly done and the pup probably had their shots required up to that age, but after that it is up to the owner to continue with the protocol.
See if you can find out what brand and which vaccines the pup got from the breeder. Assuming he had no problems with that (presumably the breeder would have informed you), you can sometimes determine what part of the vaccine may have caused the issue, or maybe the brand itself. Different companies use slightly different mediums in the vaccine so that could be the issue. Regardless, you need to do some research and determine with your vet if and how to finish out what parts of the series.
I had a dog years ago that we finally figured out was reacting to the hepatitis portion of the vaccine. We did each one seperately and that was the one he reacted to. From then on his shots were done with each part seperately a few weeks apart and he never got the hepatitis part again. This was back in the 80's, when I vigilantly did the shots every year. Now I would never do that, I titer all my dogs now.
Here's a start on your research, hope it helps.

I had a Dal bitch go down after having her second puppy shot, she reacted terribly to the CAV-1 even developed Blue eye reaction so bad that colour was stripped from her iris' she was desperatly ill for 2 weeks, vet denied it was the vaccine (15 years ago) but when she went down again at her 1 year booster I started to put 2 and 2 together!) and the vet couldn't deny it then! She was never vaccinated again and lived til she was almost 14
Check the vaccine see whats in it, chances are it's CAV-1 as thats the likely suspect - if not and as much as I've seen vaccine reactions in dogs (I've seen a fair few!) There's always the possibility that the pup had an underlying infection and the vaccine has knocked pup over.
Hoping your pup pulls through and you figure out what caused it!
I didn't think they used CAV1 anymore favouring CAV-2 as it's less likely to cause a reaction and is close enough to CAV-1 to produce immunity to both? Anyone??

Was there a chance that the Vaccine got warm ? Did you put it right into the fridge when you got it from the breeder- it was sent home with Ice packs ? When you Vaccinated the puppy yourself, did you make sure to Pull up the skin, there was no air bubbles, and you pulled back to make sure you did not hit a vein before pushing in the plunger ?
Also- Did you give any Ivermectin at the same time as the shot ? Its a Dewormer.

I gave him duramune max 5 (canine distemper, adenvirus type 2, parainfluenza, parvo, vacuna contra moquillo, adenovirus tipo 2, parainfluenza - parvovirus)
I picked him up today. He is no longer shaking nor vomitting. But his coordination is still way off. He cant walk.

Why did your vet release him if he can't walk?
by Jag M on 25 December 2010 - 01:12
Vet
said he is stable and he should be back to normal in 2 days. He sent home meds too.

If your Vet released him then it should all be good,
let the puppy relax, he has been through a tough time.
Give him some time to be alone and he should be fine
