is there any supplement that you need to give a dog in addition to dog food in  order to help bring the milk in.  if so at what time do you start giving it to her.

Add goats milk to her food and a little plain yogurt. Feed her several times a day.

Are you sure you are ready for a litter of pups, or is that just a nervous question ?

by POLICE TRAINED GSD on 08 October 2010 - 20:10

no just for my general information, i saw a dog the other day and it looked like it had milk for years. i  was just curious.

If a bitch has been bred non stop, they can look a little like that. Maybe she just had a litter.

Raw Chicken, start feeding it to her at least 2 weeks prior to whelping, at least 2 legs a day with the thigh on,

"A chicken leg a day, keeps the vet away!"

About two weeks before whelp, I will start putting a powdered milk replacement in my bitches food and will do this until the pups are 3 weeks. Might just be an old wives tale but it difinatly does not hurt my bitches.

my vet tole me 1/8 cup of raw beef liver a few times a day. its super rich so too much will cause the runs.
