OK moderator

I will not post anymore useful LINKS on pedigreedatabase

They will be available only on my Videx GSD website

Moderator edit: Everyone's links are important, that is why we have a classified. Please use it.

Videx edit: what I posted was very useful information and a very important GSD subject.
NOT an advert.        classified - No Thanks

Moderator edit: When  I checked your link it went to nothing. A dead end.  The TOS says different.

Videx provides links to some very interesting and useful GSD information (working and show). As well as interpretation for those of us who don't speak German.

It is very diffulcult to understand how anyone would find this service objectionable.

To the Moderator

The links provided by Videx give valuable and informative information to the GSD fraternity.  In fact, Videx produce the best information service of all time to the UK and, it is appreciated by many other GSD enthusiasts worldwide.  For ease of access to the readers it is, in my opinion, best kept on the forum with the added benefit that the topics can become the subject of discussion on the forum.

I too agree, this is getting ridiculous!  I have noticed lately the moderators are removing links even when MEMBERS of the site post links below their names to their own websites in the normal course of discussion.  To me, this is absurd and is “splitting hairs”!  Furthermore, it is a bit troubling being reminded all the time of some “Big Brother” watching over us as if we can’t think for ourselves.

If you’re (the Moderator) goal is to prevent “Advertising” in the course of discussion then why does this website even allow MEMBERS to include links to their websites when they set up their profiles?  By removing the links these MEMBERS post in the course of a discussion (or in an attempt to create a discussion), you are forcing everyone else to go to the posters profile, click on their website address, and then go search for the information they wanted to share on their website. Whereas, a simple link provided by the poster could take us directly to the information they are wanting to share.  This moderator is actually making it more difficult to share information on this website with this new practice.

You know, for the most part, we are not dummy’s and can decipher on our own what information we would like to pursue. God forbid VIDEX (or any other MEMBER for that matter) post’s a link to their website to make the dissemination of that information a little easier for the rest of us to obtain.  If you call that “Advertising” then let them “Advertise” and let us decide on our own whether to pursue the information or not.

This has always been the downfall of great websites. As soon as they become popular they start doing crap like this as if they are doing everyone a favor.  I wish people who start these great websites would just start the website and leave the damn thing alone once it is up and running.  IMO, moderators are useless and only cause more problems.  The reason this website was popular to begin with was because of people (like VIDEX) who took the time to post useful information or LINKS to useful information for the rest of us to pursue IF WE CHOOSE TO.  Now the moderators here are beginning to show warning signs of ruining the usefulness of this website.

Please stop this new practice; you are only shooting yourself in the foot.

To the Moderator:

I for one think you have acted perfectly properly and impartially.

I agree. Every other forum I have used is moderated quite firmly, and absolutely does not allow for promotion of people's own websites. Personally I don't really mind one way or another whether links to websites are placed, but it is certainly more the norm on forums for them not to be.

Since the moderator has been operating the whole tone of the board has changed for the better IMO.

The greatest improvement will have is when it STOPS anonymous members and posts.
ownership, accountability, balance & perspective will then rule.

'Since the moderator has been operating the whole tone of the board has changed for the better.'

Quite so. I agree wholeheartedly. The Moderator deserves every credit for that. No-one can reasonably say that the Moderator is heavy handed on this board. It is much better than it was.
