Vaginitis?? - Page 1

I was wandering, have any of you ever heard of a 6 week old pup having vaginitis or a UTI??  What could cause this in a pup so young?

Yes, vaginitus is very common in young puppies, no treatment usually and can last for a few months but a UTI should be checked by your vet.

Very common in young puppies.....Usually nothing to worry about. But if you notice an unusal amount of unrination or alot of drinking or the discharge has a strong fowl order, I would definitely be taking a visit to the vet......JMO

Thanks, a friend of mine has a litter and one of the females has either vaginitis or a UTI.  The vet said she wasn't sure which one.  I don't understand that though...  But anyways, thanks...

            Your dog may have what I call a disappearing dinky (pardon the expression).....(My definition).....

It's when a female dog has an innie, of her private parts, sometimes people have to get their dogs an operation to make it right.

   That's all BS though.......even if you are planning to have your pup be  just a nice family pet/companion dog and not breed her, you need to let her go through just one heat cycle, this will correct her disappearing dinky (DD) and she will never get anymore UTI's.


After she goes through her heat cycle her (Dinky) will inflate........kinda like a balloon.....it then corrects itself, No operation needed.........

   I am a breeder of GSD's and if I want to keep a pup for my breeding program and I see she has a "DD" I do not keep her, cause I personally believe that a "DD' is  herditary......

    I would show you a picture of what I'm talking about, but since I haven't used a dog with that characteristic, for a number of years, I haven't seen one in a recent litter.......

           Be careful also to keep the place she sleeps in clean & free from an old blanket or anything else that can harbor a bacteria...

Mirasmom ,  LOL .. Totaly know what you mean. Some females can have the dissapering dinky or kinda inverted looking "coochie" or even a flap of skin that seems to go over the vulva a little. 

Yes it is true that it will correct its self after a heat, yes I have seen it in my dogs, and I have no idea if its hereditary but I think its one of those things that just happens. I have never seen a whole litter of puppes that had this issue, it usualy happens spontainously in diffrent lines. ( my friends joke about it in there totaly diffrent bloodlines so I know it happens to all lines)

Maybe keep baby wipes and give it a swipe in the evenings to keep any gunk from sticking around.
