Dreaming about the border collies...

(Gurglie noise ensues again)

Jenni! You have a MONKEY? Does it bite?

Jenni78

by Jenni78 on 31 August 2010 - 07:08

Jackie, everything I  have bites. Including my child. Do wish your brother the best with his new furry friends. LMAO

Jeff.....darling, EVERYONE knows that. Men are no great mystery. However, I find it's only the most insecure and pathetic of the species that have to pigeonhole, disregard, belittle, or otherwise insult someone's intelligence based solely on an attractive appearance.  I find this doesn't occur nearly as often if you allow them to believe they have a snowball's chance in hell, but when you're straightforward and bluntly turn them down, a mysterious phenomenon takes place; you become stupid in their eyes, even though 10 mins prior to rejecting them,  you were the smartest woman they'd ever met. It's quite fascinating, really, and if I had the funding, I'd do a dissertation on it.

Must everything come back to looks with you? How did what I said trigger your comments? (picture me saying this in my best psychologist's voice)  I'm here to help you get over your issues w/how I look (or how you think I look; you've never met me) and move back on topic- DOGS. Maybe you need to get laid; seems you have an unhealthy obsession w/photos of someone you've never met. Just a thought, darling. ;-)

I would believe the child bites. I have read so much from you that is well, lets say less than realistic. I also know what is written to me.in PM's. Gotta figure it has been since when that I have known you ??

Rejection. Luckily, after many years of bartending, I learned which ones to not ever ask certain questions. These women can be good friends, but most of the time they are way too self absorbed. Kinda like you. Rejection is your one power. I can see you going out after a bad day and just shooting guys down to feel better.  Kinda makes it obvious why you are a single mother. Gotta remember I grew up where you are from. We all know the suburb girls, with their frailty, there false ego, how they take after their mothers with their big mouths.  Gotta remember I grew up around people like you and left, laughing.

I would LOVE to see a dissertation written by you. I would love to be there to watch you present that.

Getting laid has never been the problem Jen, plus, as an added bonus, I am old, and have better things to do with my time. LOL

I was not the rejectee in this little dance. : )

I have to hand it to you man, you are a class act !!!!!!!!

by Jeff Oehlsen on 31 August 2010 - 17:08

Not trying to be anything. Just had the sudden realization that once again I was on this board posting. : ) Gotta stop the madness, and leave these people to their own little worlds.

I don't want to get beat up.

This shit never ends. There is always someone who thinks that abuse is occurring, even if it is not. I have no idea if the OP has any experience at all with Sch training, or is just a big mouth, but for fucks sake, when will this shit stop ? I have owned dogs that will hurt you real bad with your goofy clicker shit. They needed way more than I wanted to hand out, but you got to do what you got to do.

I would love to go back in time, snatch one of these dogs as a pup, and give it to one of these abuse criers. I guarantee they are smacking the dog after 5 months. That or the dog lives in a kennel with a little door to throw the bowl into. : )

LOL!  Gawd, what I wouldn't give to have this happen!

When you put a dog with a trainer who lashes out this is what the animal will do as well. Why wouldn't it? And, after all, as implied by the poster, that is really what they want.  It makes them feel like they have a tough dog.

Put this same dog with a talented trainer and you get an animal which has never had to lash out. Its behaviors are shaped into useful and non dangerous actions by a trainer who has the talent to do that.  Geez, people can train tigers and lions! Its not rocket science to do it with a domestic dog. LOL!

When I see these "macho guys" who - by their own actions - make their dogs "aggressive" so everyone will think they are so cool, well, i think how "cool" trainers are who can actually train an animal to a  high level without resorting to physical punishment.

Keep kicking and choking those tough domestic dogs, guys, wow, you are really impressive trainers - and SO rough and tough!  I sure wish I could be that cool...

How many highly aggressive GSDs have you trained, Diane? Just from personal experience, I will say I have to REALLY be careful of how I handle my Pits after working with the GSDs. The minimum handling skills needed to safely deal w/the GSDs would shut the Pits down and have them crawling on their bellies. TOTALLY different breeds with  TOTALLY different temperaments toward their handlers. And none of my dogs from either breed are anything less than very well bred working lines, so I am comparing apples to apples in that sense, but to compare Pits to GSDs is really apples to oranges in any other sense.

One of the hardest things for me is to "tone down" my attitude and handling style when I have Simon or Seven on the leash, especially after handling a GSD (not all my GSDs, but several). Whereas one displeased look is enough for the Pits to serve as a correction, I have had to do some ugly things to one GSD in particular, on occasion. It was a very serious matter, and I'm not remotely sorry. It's either do what you have to do to keep EVERYONE safe, or puss out, put the dog to sleep, and tell yourself you're a real animal lover. If you work through these incidents you will have yourself a phenomenal partner. If you don't, you will have a real danger on your hands, or just another statistic.

There ARE dogs who simply will not, due to exceptionally high opinions of themselves and strong character, surrender their wishes for your freaking cookie, clicker, or whatever other motivational lovey-dovey toy you wave in their faces. To think these dogs will say to themselves "oh, wait, if I don't eat that little dog over there, Mommy will give me a cookie" is insane. It's more like "I don't give a rat's ass about your freaking cookie, you moron. I'm gonna kill that little f*&^er." There HAVE to be consequences for deliberate disobedience with these dogs. Too often, the handler is too soft to deal with the dog so it ends up dead.

I take exception to the word "punishment." There should never be punishment- only corrections, doled out fairly and at a level consistent with the offense.

Additionally, have you ever noticed how these lions and tigers always end up killing their trainers? Just sayin'.
