Hi... I heard of this board and decided to check it out...
I wondered, do you think it's possible to train (and title) all breeds of dogs in schutzhund?
Okay so these are the breeds I personally have heard of in the spot.
- German Shepherd Dog
- Rottweiler
- Belgian Malinois
- Doberman Pinscher
- American Staffordshire Terrier
But what about these breeds? Is it possible? Likely? Why or why not?
- Australian Shepherd
- Border Collie

Hello,
I don't have much experience with the Australian Shepherd or Border Collie, but the 1999 FCI list of the breeds that it allows to compete in Schutzhund included the Australian Shepherd and Border Collie. This is out of the book Advanced Schutzhund by Ivan Balabanov and Karan Duet. I tried to figure out the current list but couldn't find anything.
Of course it is good to have working lines in a dog that you plan to use for Schutzhund. This will greatly improve your chances in being successful in the sport. As regards titling, DVG America titles all kinds of dogs - even small breed dogs.

I have a mixed breed female(possibly Rottweiler/Chow/Retriever) that I adopted from the pound 6 years ago. She was a puppy and I have her trained to the Schutzhund levels. I chose not to title her because she doesn't like some aspects of the sport and I don't want to force her in it. She's a great dog that enjoys protection and tracking, but just isn't right for titling.
I hope this helped a little,
Best Regards,

Furpaw,
You could go bear hunting with a 22. No one is going to
stop you. But I would suggest taking something that is at least will
hurt the bear.
