Hi, has anyone every had a female come into heat late? Or throw off heat? If so for what reasons?
I've been speaking with various people who are telling me our above average hot weather has throw off their females normal heat cycles. In the past I had a healthy females heat cycle would be late by months if any other female would come into heat around her. Also worked with a dog, that had very abnormal heat cycles due to a thyroid problem, before she was spayed. I've heard the normal reasons such as illness, to much work / exercise, health issues, etc.
But wanted to hear from breeders for other reasons they found their females cycle was thrown off / late.

I've also volunteered a lot with Fidelco ( seeing eye dog school with all GSD ) in the past, they had issues with late heats, & also stud dogs that were so bonded with their people they would not mate. Anyone every had this issue or other stud issues not related to health?

Kind of amazing how much animals basic breeding functions can be altered by environment, & emotions, not just ruled by instinct alone.

Thanks, Carol
