I have a 15 month old GSD female who is anorexic , B12 deficient with normal folase. EPI was normal. Ultrasound showed slight thickening of small intensinal walls and small adrenal glands. When given a B12 shot her appetite increases, but she doesn't gain weight. (1 pound over past month) Vet is looking at IBD over Addison's but she has no diarhea or vomiting. She was on a prey raw diet since she was a pup but slowly started eating less and less. She weighs around 55 pounds. Right now she is eating between 2-3 cups of Taste of the Wild kibble and 16 ounces of ground chuck per day (for about 4-5 days after her B12 shot) but as I said, gains no weight. I would feed her more but she won't eat anymore. When she's done she's done and nothing will entice her further.
The vet has perscribed to up her B12 , put her on Budesonide ( a corticosteroid) and a hydrolyzed protein diet. Which I am willing to do if IBD is the diagnosis. I'm just confused because two major symptoms - vomiting and diarhea are not present.. Any ideas?

I have a 4 year old female diagnosed with EPI, b12 deficiency and Sibo. From what I understand b12 deficiency and sibo cango together. Molly dropped 10 lbs very rapidly a few months ago. She weighed 48 lbs. I took her to a specialist and even though the results of her SIBO tests did not indicate she was in a flare up we treated with 1/3 tsp tylan powder 2 x per day. Molly is eating 3 x per day (2.5 cups at each meal) and has gained 10 lbs in 2 weeks. If it is Sibo the Tylan wil work rather quickly. I would ask your vet to check for SIBO but you might want to treat for it even if the test does not indicate. If Molly would have continued to lose weight we were going to take a biopsy to determine if it was IBD. Luckily the new feeding schedule and they Tylan is working.
Good luck and let me know how your girl makes out.
