Have you ever had to use his skills? I read a story once about a pit bull who caught a robber. Did your dog ever do use the Schutzhund training he had.

I would love to hear stories, even if it wasn't your actual dog.

:) This should be interesting if people reply.

Schutzhund training/titles and PPD/security work are two totally different things.

I have a medical alert dog who has a Bh, but we switched to PSA and she has done her first title there. She has no trouble whatsoever distinguishing between a protection field and other places. Well, except that she becomes a PPD when she is guarding the house. I suppose if an ambulance ever has to come get me, I'm going to die while she guards me!

I have a lover at home and welcomes everyone he thinks is not a threat. I have had someone get in my car at a light, was up and over the back and used his body to push me to the drivers door while he tore up the guy. (My hubby was ticked, the blood in the car and thought the guy would report, I told him and what do you think the idiot is going to say, he is not reporting anything)

I have stoped him from going after someone who entered my yard, and I have sent him on someone who entered my yard.

He has signaled me, you have 2 mintues to get this guy out of the house or I will (I did not understand why, but instead of putting him up, I got the guy out of the house, he loves everyone, so if he is signaling me, you are outta here and fast)

He has escorted an intruder out of my home when no one was here and when I got home they were sunning themsevles with the front door wide open.

The phrase "know Schutzhund" does not really make sense to me because schutz= protection, hund= dog.... and it is not a perfect term because this sport is obedience and tracking as well.

Like KC said, SchH training is different than personal protection or security work, it is with the goal of scoring points in a competitive sport.  Some dogs who are SchH3 won't protect their owner in real life.  Where as PP training has the goal of training a dog that can be a defense against a threat and protect you.  My dog has never had to use bitework, but it's probably because once someone sees an aggressive barking dog they have the common sense to go away.

The question doesn't really make sense to me either. Perhaps you could elaborate. What you mean by 'use the SchH training'?

Oops, should have stayed out of this one, 1. Rottie, 2. PP dog.
