GSDtravels

by GSDtravels on 07 May 2010 - 12:05

I've gotten a few emails from Carol about Heidi's new home. I posted last week that she was being place with a retired police officer. I was mistaken - as I was winding through marathon traffic while getting the update my ears were not hearing correctly, LOL. She has been placed with a Fire Chief and is settling in to her new home. Here are some excerpts from the volumnous email I recieved early this week:

"I hope you will forward this to others from around the country who heard of Heidi’s plight...I want to thank you and your network of German Shepherd lovers who gave us so much help and encouragement and advice in rescuing Heidi from an abusive and dangerous household. Today, her new owner is picking her up from the church where she is staying. He is a Fire Chief who has had three Shepherds in the past, one of whom he took to Penn Vet Hospital for hip replacement and where she recovered for 45 days (just imagine the cost). It is an ideal home for Heidi because he is an older guy who lives alone, no other pets or little kids. He is never parted from his dogs, he said, and will be taking her to work with him every day. The guys at the fire hall are looking forward to playing ball with her all day, something she never tires of doing!...Then the veterinarian advised Carole D. not to put Heidi into a home with small animals in order to avoid any trouble. I had talked to (name replaced with screen name -moonlite) and he knew a retired couple who sounded perfect—except they had a cat. I wasn’t able to talk to them and find out any more information, like if the cat was used to dogs, because (moonlite) did not share their contact information with me. In the meantime, other people were coming forward. (moonlite) wanted to help and I appreciate his offer to send his friends up to the shelter to just pick up Heidi sight unseen! That is remarkable and they must be great people. On the other hand, it is always necessary, before sending a pet off with total strangers, to check the home, check the references. In my experience, some of the nicest looking people can fool you. And the dog can’t pick up the phone and call for help...bless all those dog lovers in German Shepherd Rescue who do their thing!"

I will also post on the other side.

once again you do not tell the whole truth or story, you posted last week the story of heidi, in your post you said the dog had to be rescued by friday, which i believe was 3 days away, maybe 4, i contacted you and told you i would take her into my home and give her all the love and understanding that she deserved, i told you i would keep her until i found her a good quality home and that i even had a couple in mind that had recently lost their gsd, you were all over the place with the different story about the dog, you told me that you were not the person who had the dog but that you would have her contact me, she contacted me the following day by leaving a message on my machine that she was really busy and would not be able to contact me until later that evening, she did not leave a phone number and if she did i would not of called her anyway as she stated she was going to be very busy and she would be calling me back, then i talked to you again and told you that she was more than welcome to meet with the couple i had in mind, after i had talked to them of course, i also informed you at that time that the couple both worked nite work at a hospital on the weekends and that they were available anytime during the week but as it was already thursday i would come and get the dog or she could bring it to me and look at my place and talk to me(remember friday was the cutoff date to rescue) or if she wanted to come on the weekend and meet the couple it would have to be before 11am as the people went to bed at noon to rest to go to work at 7pm, so i cancelled my plans for friday night and stayed home waiting for this woman to call me as she said she would, guess what, no phone call came, waited all day saturday until 2:30 pm until i got a phone call and a woman said '' i sitting here looking at a beautiful gsd that needs a home and i am heading down your way to meet the couple who wants her, i just showed her to another couple and they had a dominant lab and the 2 dogs did not get along", i told her that it was too late to go to the couple's house as they were in bed, i reminded her of our previous conversation about their hours of availability, her reply was "i forgot", i then got on here and told you what i thought about feral cat rescuser's trying to get involved with gsd's and i thought both of your friends were whacko's, then and only then did i get a call from one of the whacko's demanding a apology, she ranted and raved about how great she was rescuing feral cat's, and she was doing equally with the dog, then i thought about your involement in all this and i thought just maybe i was a little hard on you as you were a third party and only repeating what you were told, plus i got a pm from you saying i should not have posted my thought's on the forum, i should have sent you a pm, so i got back on the forum and apoligized to you on the open forum for all to see, i can see now that was my biggest mistake, i then called the place where to gsd was being boarded and left a message that was never returned, i and my friends that were going to adopt the dog made every effort to come to the aid of a gsd in need, it was your friends and you that screwed everything up, we were willing to meet with anyone at a approbiate time, no communications from anyone. i'm just happy the dog is taken care of, as for the rest of keystone cops involved in this mess all i will say is the same should be done to them as they should do with their precious feral cats, "kill 'em all and let god sort 'em out", by the way, my apologies to everyone who reads this as i know it is a rant, i hope they don't break their arms patting themselves on the back, for a dog that needed a home by friday heidi seems to have lucked out of which i am grateful to the gentleman who rescused her, never again for me, i've had gsd's for 40+yrs and i was a independent trucker for 38 yrs the only people i've run into this decietful were all in weigh stati

i tried to edit my above post, it did not work, so to clarify things, let me say the conversation's i had were with gsd travels friend not her, so when you read it just remember to put "her' in the place of you, i most certainly did offer to provide contact info to the wacko who called me,   AND LET ME SAY AGAIN IT WAS NOT GSD TRAVELS WHO I TALKED TO ON THE PHONE, IT WAS HER FREIND, BUT SHE'S THE ONE POSTING MISINFORMATION ON HERE, i wish i could of edited the piece above to clarify a few things, such as she was informed about the cat, she said heidi lived with a cat, she was also informed that the cat had lived with the couples gsd for 10 yrs

I have no idea where your misplaced anger is coming from, or why it's directed at me.  YOU are the one looking like a nutcase!  Carol said only good things about you and your friends in the email she sent me.  Again, you are shooting the messenger!  I really don't care at this point, you can go kick homeless people if that makes you feel better.  You exploded on me before when I gave you the only information I had and instead of blasting you for it, I was polite enough to send you a PM insead of trashing you publicly.  Seeing now the pent up anger you have, hearing that the dog is in a good home, I'm glad there were no dealings with you and this poor dog and she's found a home where she can be safe and happy.  Go get yourself some therapy!

In one thing, you are correct, I did not tell the WHOLE story but really didn't think it was necessary.  The full email I got was 2 pages long and I stated clearly that I was posting excerpts.  The dog was taken to and housed in a church (by the Pastor) until transferred to the owner.  I really didn't think that was so important to the end result but, there's the big secret!

by moonlite on 07 May 2010 - 18:05

seems to me that you are the nut case, now i know you think this is your private forum but don't you think you should at least verify the info you post? there is not one mistruth in anything i have posted, now let's examine your post, '' MOONLITE DID NOT PROVIDE ANY CONTACT INFO" that is lie #1, i provided not only my contact info but also that of the couple who were going to adopt heidi, lie#2, everyone involved, your friends, were advised the couple had a cat that was used to living with gsd's, they also are the ones who said that should not be a problem as heidi lived with a cat, lie #3, i am full of hate and i need help, you don't even know me, how can you make such an assumption when i all i did was respond to post's invoking my name in out and out lies, i made no such assumptions about you even though you are the one posting these lies, look at my post count woman, i am not prone to spending my life on here telling everyone what they should do, i visit here everyday but i only post when i have something to say, not just to "hear" myself talk. now go read your previous post's, all of them and see what you really sound like, i won't even go into the 8 pm's i recieved about you, as i don't post anything i don't know all the fact's of, you should try that sometime, i'm done posting on the matter as now i can see why all the really knowledgable gsd people don't post on here very often, it's people like you that give the forum a "channel 19" atmosphere, wish i could take credit for that statement, but i can't as it was in one of the pm's i recieved.

moonlite, if you'd read the beginning of my post, these were excerpts I took from Carol's email, not my words.  She actually said nice things about you, even if she was wrong or actually lied, I have no control over that.  I posted this thinking you would be happy to hear that Heidi ended up in  a good home.  There was nothing here that should make you this angry and no reason to get so nasty with me.   How is this my forum?  You are a pretty funny guy.  I never claimed to have any great knowledge, I actually come here to GATHER some.  I've gotten a few PMs regarding your display too!  Interesting!

moonlite,

I think you are confused and out of line. Bottom line is that the dog has a good home apparently. If you went the extra miles but for whatever reason did not get the dog, I suggest that there are PLENTY more needing a home. As I stated before, sometimes with many people involved, the situation becomes confused and very complex. I have seen it personally happen being involved in GSD rescue for more than 15 years. That is why I always worked alone. GSDtravels was trying to help the dog, period. She has no beef with you and for you to write as you do here is uncalled for. As I said, there are a lot of unwanted GSDs in every shelter in the country. If you are sincere in wanting a dog, I bet you can find one in one hour.
