i,m thinking of doing the same bernard.fed up now of the kennel club.not really interested in doing man work and so know that if i buy a new puppy in the future ,once she,s adult will never get VA but winning is not the be all of owning a gsd.i hope that joe public who have visted the k.c.facebook wall can now see them for wot they are MONEY GRABBING MORONS.,who DO NOT HAVE THE HEALTH OF ANY BREED AT THEIR HEART.keep up the good work.Carole S.

Don't forget that the KC can (and will?) refuse whatever name/s you ask for. We will still be using them for registrations.

Misbeeb, wont be registering the pups with the KC.Both of my females are veterans now.lily aged 10 in june is speyed and her daughter from her 1 st and only litter is 7,will be 8 in dec2010 is too old for her 1st litter so wont be mating her her.am planning to buy a female when one of those goes, which i hope wont be for a good few years. So i,m hoping our reg.system will be up and running.if not I STILL WONT BE PAYING THE KC FOR THE PRIVILEDGE,UNLESS THE MANDATORY HEALTH CHECKS FOR REG.ARE IN FORCE.Carole S.

Thanks Carole & Missbeeb
when I have another litter I will be sending for registration with Von/Vom to see
if they are accepted, But do not wish to upset anyone by using Von/Vom incorrectly.
P.S I will not be breeding another litter untill this time next year.

bernard, i dont intend giving them another penny in respect of my gsds,or the new one when i purchase her, unless they wake up and do the right thing by all breeds not just shepherds.its hopefully going to be a few years down the road,as i,m only allowed 2 animals in my housing contract.i will be entering some champ shows along the way as many others have said they are,as this is my hobby, but as sue pointed out ,the money goes to the clubs/canine societies not directly to the kc.coffers.will hopefully be able to support some of the new regional shows and attend if they,re acessible by public transport.Carole S.

I agree that the K.C is profit making machine BUT at present we have no alternative (that the public will accept)
to register our dogs.
I have not renewed my Accredited Breeder 2 years ago because it had no TEETH and now have not renewed my AFFIX as I have no intention to giving the K.C more money than I feel I need to
And that includes CRUFTS I have imposed a life time ban on myself
to register our dogs.

I understand what you're saying, but please remember, we will have to use the KC for registration for our dogs for the next few years... maybe longer.

Several years ago i stopped using the kennel club services for anything. Affix..dropped, breeding/ registrations....stopped, entry fees for KC run events.... stopped. In fact the only thing i do use the kennel club for is my letters of complaint!!! Stopped even that pointless excercise recently. My friends all said about stopping breeding so not to pay them registration fees.. " Kind biting your nose of to spite your face". Maybe so, but i can look myself in the mirror and say i do not pay one penny of my hard earned money to keep this draconian boys club alive and kickin'. Maybe one day there will be an alternative, futures looking promising!!!!

Posted from another German Shepherd Forum:
Unlike English, German assigns gender to its nouns. There are three possible genders - feminine, masculine, and neuter. The only way to learn which word is which gender is to learn the vocabulary along with the gender so you will get it right. For example -
der Tisch - the table - masculine ("der")
das Haus - the house - neuter ("das")
die Katze - the cat - feminine ("die")
This is important to know before you ever think about whether it should be "von" or "vom" because it plays a role in that.
"Von" and "vom" both translate to "of" or "from" in English because they are actually the same word used with nouns of different genders. Example -
Abby vom Haus Schmitt - Abby of/from House Schmitt
It has to be "vom" because "vom" is a contraction of "von dem". It has to be "dem" because that is the dative case of "das" in "das Haus".
Abby von den Blauen Bergen - Abby from the Blue Mountains
It has to be "von den" because "Bergen" is plural (it's generally "von den" if there is a plural involved)
The word "von" is not influenced by the gender of the dog, but the gender of the kennel name.
If your kennel name is, for example, "Haus Mueller" it needs to be "vom" because it is "das Haus" and Mueller is a name.
If your kennel name is, for example, "Leerburg", it would be "von Leerburg" because Leerburg is a name, not a word.
If your kennel name is, for example, "Blaue Berge", it would be "von den Blauen Bergen" because it is plural.
If your kennel name is, for example, "Blauer Berg", it would be "vom Blauen Berg" because it's singular and "der Berg", masculine.
