Some white may fade
My puppy had only a couple of white toes and they did fade a little
but she had them through her adult life and did produce some puppies with white toes.

I noticed that pup too. The whole foot is white, doubt if that will go away.

My bi color girl was born with white toenails. They went away. I just wondered if that MUCH white would go. I didn't think it would.

My second shepherd, Phanny (Phantom) was born with 4 white feet and her nickname was "socks".

These are old pictures that were scanned in to the computer and they make some of the tan look the same as white. Many of her toenails were white.
All of the white fur turned tan (except on her belly and under her tail, and all of the nails turned black. In her old age the white started re-appearing as a very light beige but not the white toenails.

Here is an old Phanny with baby Pharaoh at 8 weeks.

I bought a pup that had a couple of white toes, white toenails and a white spot on her chest. I would NOT do it again.
The white spot on her chest went away, as did the white toes, but the white toenails remained, and her saddle faded badly as she matured.
If you want a dog with good pigment, look for a pup that looks like its toenails have been dipped in India ink. I heard this from a breeder of over 40 year's experience, and I believe it's true!

I second Red Sable, most probably they will remain, those GSDs with white on toes generally produce some puppies with white toes. Even when some of the white turns into tan or better said is covered and hidden with tan as puppy grows up into an adult, it comes back again as the dog ages in his last years.

Oh well heck, Michele, those white toes don't look bad once the dog is grown. Now that I see it on a full grown dog, I think I have seen it in the real world, too, and never thought anything of it.
My bi girl's toenails all turned black, and she has lot of black penciling, too. Hope she doesn't HAVE any babies with white feet. Her mom didn't have them, or her grandmother.

Slightly off topic, however, I was under the impression that a very small crest of white fur on the chest is acceptable?
