As you will read from the other post on Birmingham and Dist. The vote this evening went to sign the KC undertaking. I would like to explain the position and why it went this way. It had nothing to do with the good of the breed. It had very little or nothing to do with the GSD at all.
It had to do with a General Secretary who in the first instance at EC level voted to NOT sign. She works her collie in obedience, . However, a telephone call from Mr Andrew Winfrow to her personally, letting her know that breed people had lost the plot not wanting to sign and it was ok for me, as breed enthusiast, but she would lose the obedience side too - followed by a letter from the KC threatening the same, caused her to totally change her mind. She convinced with her, her own branch of West Bromwich, who have no breed members at all. The AGM was at their training club, on their training night, and although my daughter Shirley put an excellent presentation together, the vote was already decided at the beginning of the evening. Shirley had all the press reports, and gave her presentation without flowering it up, and without passion, but with the utmost down to earth factual information. It all fell on deaf ears.
Lichfield Branch - which is a branch of evenly spread breed/obedience went to great lengths to ensure that all of its members understood the undertaking, and the reasons we felt that it was very unfair, and the reasons we felt that the obedience would not, and could not by law be "policed" in the way the KC had threatened. They all votged unanimously against signing - but of course the AGM was held at a branch in Birmingham and with the best will in the world, they understood and voted for our branch, but no votes could be counted apparently if they were not there - I am looking in to that one, as I had their votes to hand and they had sent in their apologies
The AGM. This Evening.
Held at our West Bromwich Branch. NOT ONE BREED PERSON in the branch, not one person interested in the breed with the exception of one vet, who shows two collies, and voiced her opinion on unsoundness, and really felt that if we worked with the KC they would come around to our way of thinking !!! Obviously many more members of West Bromwich as it was their training night at their venue - even dogs attended after training. Our Gen Sec then read the KC letter that we have all read, about "perhaps we will take your obedience tickets too" and then proceeded to say that
"We Cannot Break Away From the KC". How much understanding was that.
We pushed the point we were not asking to break away,
she pushed the point that she had been told, and written to now about losing obedience tickets.
We pushed the point that it was for the good of the GSD - we were a BREED Club
- she pushed the point that money makes the world go around, and the obedience collies etc brought that to our table.
I mentioned that the Breed Council were asking for Clause 9 to be taken out, and perhaps we should then wait and see their answer, None of the other pet members wanted to know, they just wanted to get home and the general secretary made the point that the club would close if we didnt sign it ! ! ! !
This being the same secretary and the EC whole gave a wholehearted NO to the signature at our EC meeting !!!
So one point for the Kennel Club and their blackmail of people that are too weak to realise that their threats are just that and they cant all be carried out.....
With this disgusting decision,

continued....
With this disgusting decision, and a total turn around of the EC including the General Secretary, putting the letter received from the KC and the telephone call from Mr Winfrow together - I saw the total injustice of this whole plagued campaign.
Sadly, after 30+ years as show secretary and branch secretary of B`ham & Dist I have decided to resign A room full of people who had no idea of what the issue was truly about, decided the future of that club. It was once a triple status CC Association, with 5 branches thriving well - it is now a struggling obedience club that has just given one of its branches £1,000 to survive for another few weeks with 5 members, and no structure as to how to utilise the monies to bring in extra people - thats about as forward thinking as the decision made tonight.
My daughter has also resigned form the committee, and so has my partner Zep. How sad is this - no breed members left at all. Oh, and Andrew didnt turn up for the AGM with no apologies sent- and as president of the assn, and having given the general secretary his valued opinion on what she should do - I would have thought he would. Tragic.
For me? Well, off to the knackers yard, well used breed secretary and committee worker with 30+ years experience thinking she was working for a club that promoted the correct type of GSD.....you live and learn just how devious people can be. Mo.

Sorry to hear about Birm & Dist Club.

Hi Bernard,
Thank you for that - sujpport of any kind is always nice, as its sad to see a premier club blackmailed in such a way, and I hope that anyone reading this will see going back thoughout all of my history on the pdb I have never named people or pointed the finger in a personal way.
I feel justified this time, as our club was influenced by some-one not even prepared to arrive at the Agm. I could have counter-argued in a sensible and non threatening way, and so could Shirley so that the pet people on the floor could have understood..- but to leave the ball in the court of a lady doing obedience with her collie, influencing pet people, well what can one say.....I dont like people loading guns and leaving others to fire. Mo.

We never have said we will work in opposition with the KC Jonah, we want the choice to work properly and efficiently with our GSD betterment of the breed goal in sight, preferably done by the KC for us to look up to them - but it hasnt happened since I came into the breed (1973) and its no further happening now, so you have a very good point, that unfortunately isnt on the drawing board - however, exciting times ahead, and we hope everyone will join us. Scotland GSDP Group are pioneering a great meeting this Saturday, the League are running the first Regional show, and the Midlands will also be having a meeting very soon to be announced.....
So thanks Jonah, we shall rely also on YOUR help, love ya accent """ Mo.

mo,and shirley.feel really sorry for yu 2 being stabbed in the back at the last minute after all the truths that yu and shirley have tried to put across in a calm, controlled, and easy to understand manner.im disgusted that Andrew felt the need to do this.maybe the KC is feeling threatened and afraid that the majority of GSDpeople have had enough and are ready to try and go it alone and to spill the beans.we are the TEST CASE,are we not,AND IF WE FAIL,that,ll be a feather in their cap and no other breed will try to follow our example.they also now have a club to run the sieger show the way they see fit.when are we going to be advised wot was said at the B/C meeting on this matter and how many and which clubs are going to sign.there,s has been rumours that 2 more have signed.both afraid to lose their CC,S presumely for next year.which my girls were younger i would most certainly have entered the regional shows.

Hi Noddi
IF the British Siegar is run by a club that has signed the KC undertaking in it's present form
I will NEVER attend or support it
