I have just been browsing around some web sites, and noticed that a bitch with a hip score of 14/13 =27 has a breed survey class one, can any one out there please explain how this can be done. the bitch in question is Gayville's Asia, it does not say on their web site, but having checked i do believe she has a class one. What is now the limit for hips for a class 1.

googles...hip score for both males and females NO MORE THAN TOTAL 20 AND NO MORE THAN 12 ON ONE HIP.IE LH.13 RH0.......FAIL.OR ACCEPTAL FOR BREEDING UNDER SV SYSTEM I THINK WOULD BE NZ.IF THE ANIMAL PASSES ITS KOREUNG THEN IS SURVEYED HERE IN THE UK AND PRESENTS THE SV HIP SCORED PAPERS IT WILL PASS CLASS 1,EVEN THO.ITS BVA SCORE WOULD BE A FAIL.IN MY OPINION ALL ANIMALS RESIDENT IN THE UK SHOULD GO THRO.THE BVA SCHEME,EVEN THE IMPORTS.SORRY THIS TO ME IS CHEATING.Carole Spelman.

well i,m sorry but this SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED.one of my bitches(now deceased)obtained a hip score of 13/5 total 18.in the old system she would have been class 1 .if it was today she would be a fail.now she would be 9 points lower than the animal in question.even tho she,s attained a stamp normal in germany ,the bva score should have been produced as well.must admit if i had an animal that has fail verdict given(re hip status)and is lower than this animal i would be mighty peeved to say the least.this is giving the KC more leverage re our attempts to control/overcome health problems.Carole

hi
thanks for that noddi
myfanwy it does say that on their site but the kennel club site says other wise. so if you have a dog with high hips, go to germany and get a better result, get a breed survey class 1 and breed from it, surley this carnt be right,?????

It should'nt be right BUT does happen
I belive UK breed survey's should only accept BVA scores even if this means rescoring dogs
I'm sure a lot of people will disagree

Googles, It may be a fair question, but since you were on the Gayville website... why didn't you email them and ask them?
This fashion of "wheeling out" these things on here without getting the info from the horses mouth, smacks of another agenda.

this particular question was asked in the letters page of the breed council monthly magazine(oct.2009)by another breeder.the surveyor was unaware of the bva score.methinks this should be put on the agenda for the next breed council meeting.i agree only bva hip scores acceptable for british survey and the british sieger, unless its an animal being shown from another country(ie with an ATC.NO.)i know of one breeder who went over to compete at the irish sieger who was downgraded at their show on their animals hips.??isnt this one of the requirements that we,re asking the KC to adopt.......not to issue the title of champion to animals who have a high hip score.

Yes, I agree with the bulk of your post, Noddi but it doesn't answer my question... why not ask the breeders before coming on here naming kennels like this?

Google named the kennel and animal,NOT ME.i only answered his question.maybe he thought it needed to be brought out into the open.DO YU THINK ITS FAIR FOR THIS BITCH TO GET A CLASS 1,WHEN ANOTHER WILL FAIL IF ONE HIP IS HIGHER THAN 12 ,BUT WHO MIGHT TOTAL LESS THAN 20 OVERWHOLE.I DONT AND AS STATED I WOULD BE VERY,VERY ANNOYED.i realise that this is a dilemma for the kennel owner but i know what i would have done.i would have presented both sets of score results and left it up to the b/c ,BUT I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED A FAIL.
