I have a 16 week old GSD female. I was told to feed her three times a day , but the vet said to feed her twice a day. She is currently eating  about 1 1/2 - 2 cups of Wellness Large  Breed Puppy Food mixed with some cooked minced chicken three times a day.She looks great !!  When should I switch her to twice a day?? According to teh GSD chart she should be 36 lbs at week 16-19...she is 36 lbs now at 16 weeks. I want to make sure she grows at the right rate.

You can probably go ahead and switch her to twice a day now. If you have one of those dogs who has an acidic stomach and vomits yellow bile once in a while, you can feed more often.  Then you can switch to once a day when the puppy is mostly grown, or not. I feed my dogs twice a day always. You probably should be influenced by whether the dog lives indoors or in a kennel, and what the climate is like where you are. My grandmother fed once a day, giant night time meals out in Northern Idaho (to keep the animals warm at night), whereas I feed two smallish meals here in California. OR, if you do Prey Model feeding, you can start training them to free feed. It all depends on so many variables.
