Hi, can you all please tell me if this dog is considered a longcoat?  Thanks!

I'm gonna go with my "gut" feeling.......I think he is.

by crhuerta on 02 February 2010 - 03:02

How old is he?

by bondos mom on 02 February 2010 - 03:02

He is just a little over a year old.  Let me see if I can get another pic to load...

Does this other picture help make a decision if he is a longcoat or not?

Does he have an undercoat?  He looks shaggy but I'd say it's borderline.  If he has no undercoat, that's the answer!  If he does have an undercoat, not so sure.  Pretty boy.

long stock coat - the tail is the giveaway.  the rest of his body is borderline, but yes.

O.K.....so if he is bred to a longcoat female, would the puppies be longcoat?

If you mean Long stock coat, I'd say no he isn't.  He looks just plush to me.  He has no feathering between his toes and his tail doesn't look that bushy IMHO.

eichenluft is spot on in her assessment. Not all long stock coats have feathering between the toes.
