Breeder who sells to police think the neighboring rottweiler male who also sell to police impregnated their female malinois.

so they ended up selling the litter to the public.  I ended up getting the only male of the litter.  there were 7 females.  I didnt select the male intentionally.  I chose the puppy I thought had the best personality.

Anyhow, I got the puppy after 7 weeks.  A couple days after getting my new friend, his front legs became paralayzed.  he was very lethargic when I had taken him outside to do his business and he fell over.  It was obvious he was sick.

I read up on the internet and it seemed like it was Lymes disease.  However, the vet said those type ticks are not found in our area and that its almost an impossibility.  She never tested for it.

Well, I left him in their care for almost a week.  They x-rayed and ran all the tests but found nothing.  They did give him steroids to see if maybe he would respond but pretty much said it was likely a congentive condition that could not be corrected and would have to put him down.

Amazingly after day 3 he started to regain some strength and started to walk--slowly but surely.  He is currently 10 months old and is a fully healthy puppy at 60+ lbs--although he will stumble on occasion when running full-bore or doing certain things within close quarters.

Since this is a malinois forum, I wanted to ask if anyone had any similar experiences with this or any idea what may have caused this?

Roscoe looks like a full-blood Mal and Im pretty sure there is no rott in him.  I could have a dna test done but its irrelevant to me really.  Id just like to know what the heck happened to the poor guy and I hope its not something that recurs later in his life.

thanks for any comments in advance.  i've enjoyed reading much of the discussions thus far but figured id go ahead and post.

Cross breeding like that can cause crainium anomalies. In males it is more likely.
If he starts seizures you my best put him down. JLP
