I have been reading different opinions on what to feed my 12 week old female GSD. I currently have her on Wellness large breed mixed with Natural Choice wet large breed food. She currently is within the GSD growth chart 27 lbs. I used to cook chicken and mixed it with a dry food for my Akita. It worked very well for him. I want to be careful and not give too much protein, but I read that the chicken feet are good for the  ears......................is this true??? Her ears are on the larger size, so they alternate going up and down. One looks beautiful today, but it was the other one last week. After reading this forum I know that this normal. I just want whats going to be best for the dog. I will post pictures to share this weekend. I'm really enjoying this forum...................many helpful people out there that love their pets.

I agree that raw is definitely best , great for jaw and ear muscles.

Msb, with Wellness you are feeding a top of the line product. It has everything in there what your pup needs for its developement. I am too feeding the Large Puppy to my pup, and the Core to my other dogs, all with excellent results (Core is for dogs older then 1 year). Why do you add wet Natural Choice?

I dont see why you couldnt add chicken feet to chew on, I just would make sure that the claws are cut off as I have seen them sold both ways. Only give it when you are able to watch her.

I'm just adding a couple of tablespoons of wet for additional flavor. I guess I'm a little peranoid about her getting the right nutrition. Her weight is perfect, in my opinion at least. She's 3 months and 1 week and just weighed in at 30 lbs. She is a little slender, I can feel her ribs, very active(too much a times)and she has a little belly............................she's a great dog!! I'm really new to GSD and I'm learning so much. Hopefully one day I can assist someone with suggestions.

In an old thread boiled chicken feet were highly appraised by Prager as extremely good for ear strengthening, I tried to find that thread for you but could not locate it.
