Well done to the CC winning dogs and bitches, and all who dared to go by the sound of it. 8 to 10 stewards around the ring at all times, watching carefully, and even a bloke video-ing the people outside the ring. When a complaint was made to Carol Marsden, the very able steward, she went and had a word with him, and was told that he was videoing the dogs. It became evident again that he was doing nothing of the kind, and she rightly went to speak with him, and told him of public videoing rules, plus the fact that there was a notice big enough for anyone to see at the venue saying that it was not allowed.
STRANGELY enough - he then dissappoeared so I guess he wasnt so interested in seeing the dogs being judged, or he would have stayed and watched them. What are we coming to at these shows.. The word in capitals is meaningful. Mo.

This is how it is going to be at all shows, even more so if the clubs sign the KC declaration, if this is what you call having fun at dog shows then sign the declaration, it will be total pressure for the clubs, their committees, exhibitors and the judges and stewards. Time to give up the dog showing game I think.

I agree totally Carol.
I think something needs to be also thought about. We are crowing about our exhibiting of dogs being affected. As I said in an earlier post, if the demands are signed, then no matter how unfair and how illegal they are, signed is signed and an agreement to stick by them.
What about VPG ? - Rule 9 says the association (which will be League and BAGSD also) will not hold any EVENTS (not shows notice) without being run under KC Rules and Regs.
Goodbye trials, good-bye VPG - goodbye British Seiger.
The British Seiger has become so important to us all, and so much work has gone in to making it the event it is, and it is still being run by "Grace and Favour" of the Kennel CLub. People still go back to the Kennel Club and say Thank You So Much For Letting Us Have a British Seiger.
Well, they wont have to if this is signed. - because Grace and Favour events have no mention or place in the contract that the KC want us to sign, so watch out BAGSD.
The League have done a splendid job already on their website of allowing all members to make their vote - without postage, without fuss, and with the maximum of explanation.
I am very dissappointed that there is nothing at all on BAGSD website - and this is coming from me - an organiser of Derbyshire VPG BAGSD branch, so I am not just trying to cause problems and strife - just being very honest. I am worried about such a big club not jumping to the needs of the members.

Well lets hope that BAGSD consult their members, I remember John Ward saying on another thread they have a meeting on 31st Jan, maybe we shouldn't hold our breath lol, but then The GSD League has always been a leading force in matters such as this and maybe we now have to rely on just one major breed club in the UK.

I hope EVERYONE who is a member has voted on the League website. And those who are NOT members - join! It's the only hope we have at the moment.

Hi Mo and Carol
If I were you I would be MORE WORRIED IF BAGDS DID CONSULT THEIR MEMBERS!!! Remember I was Gen Sec of BAGDS for as long as I could stand it (least said on here the better).
HOWEVER, thats not why I came to post, what I really came on here to say is that BAGSD have MORE MEMBERS who are owners of Border Collies, Mongrels etc than they have of GSD Owners, so think about it, DO YOU REALLY WANT THESE TYPE OF OWNERS (of other breeds) DECIDING HOW SHEPHERDS SHOULD BE EXHIBITED????? Just a thought that perhaps you should bare in mind.
Actually what you really DO NEED TO CONSIDER is HOW THE EXEC COMMITTEE WORD THEIR LETTER TO MEMBERS (thats if there is going to be one) because HOW THEY WORD IT (For example note how magnificantly the League letter was worded ) will very much EFFECT THE REPLIES THEY GET.
For example, IF THE EXEC COMMITTEE WANT TO SIGN, then they can word the letter to members in such a way that could frighten them into signing or at least be advising them to sign. If they DONT WANT TO SIGN IT, then they could find a way of wording it which would explain to ALL THE NONE GSD OWNERS THAT this will have ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT to them whatsoever and SO ADVISE THEM TO IGNORE.
With this in mind, now stand back and OBSERVE the OUTCOME, IT WILL BE A VERY INTERESTING if not (to say the least) ENLIGHTENING !!!
All the best
Sue

That may confuse some, but worse still when you go to the Veneze web site to see the details of the BOB . I believe the larger pic has clearly been altered to straighten the back.Hmm. Mr Cullen would be quite right to state his dog does not have a roach back. Perhaps all we need is a Adobe Photoshop to progress the breed Well done the chairman of the breed council.
