Hi There I am new to the forum and was scanning through the topics and such and found it was mostly German Shepherd dominated (not that there is anything wrong with that, as they seem extremely knowledgable), but was wondering how many Malinois people where actually out there posting. If you like could you please step forward and introduce yourself. I don't really want to talk to myself so I will see how many actually reply to this before I continue to tell you about me.

OK well that was short and sweet. Hi John, how long have you had Mals for. Do you have other dogs or any other type of animals. Have you always just done Schutzhund or do you do other sports with them.

I have two breeding bitches right now and I am in the process of importing a male from Belgium. I do Schutzhund for fun so I don't belong to a club or anything, although I do have a club I go to when there is a seminar or something. The reason I don't do it alot is because my plate is very full. I do CKC obedience, herding, flyball, recreational dogs sledding, confirmation among many, many other activities with my dogs. Schutzhund takes such a huge commitment I that I just don't have time for it right now but when I start getting sick of all the other things and free up time I will get into it a little more.
I also breed, raise and show Peruvian Paso horses as if I wasn't busy enough, oh plus I work full time as a dog groomer and part time at an livestock auction mart.

If anyone has a story I would love to hear it. Please by all means don't be shy. I know probably most of the people on here have told their storys already a hundred times. So if there is a thread that has stated all this stuff already please let me know.
My dogs names are Aica von Remlar and Mach Ten Matese.
Anyway hope to here from more of you.

 Hey New too

does not seem to have alot of action daily here sad

by malinoid on 11 January 2010 - 02:01

I've been involved witht he breed for almost 10 years. I train primarily in SchH, but have worked with Police Officers in that past, as well as being a member of a K9 SAR Team for about  5 years. I whelped my first litter of Malinois last year (http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dogs/belgian_malinois/pedigree/852011.html), that along with normal family life, job & my club being about 2 hours away have prevented me from doing a lot of training in the past 12 months. I hope to train more this coming year, but it will likely be sporadic for the next 6-8 months.

Hi DeeBee,
Nice to meet you. Yes it is sad isn't it, to bad it would be nice to be able to talk to more Mal people. I thought I would try to get more involvement some how but wasn't sure how to go about it, but it's looking pretty stale though. How many Mali's do you have?

Hi John, that sound awesome, got to love that first litter. Did you manage to get all the pups in working homes. Thats always a tough one. And yes I can relate about the club being that far away, the club I go to once in a while is about that far too. Definatly takes and aweful lot of time and dedication for sure.

Hi All,

I have been browsing this site for some time and this thread has been the first to encourage me to write. I suppose it is because I have felt that I dont know enough about a breed that I have fallen in love with. I was introduced to this breed some 5 years ago; when the dog tha inspired me was the Rottie, at that time I had 6 Rotts.
The Mal impressed me so much that i purchased 2 pups, male and female, from a litter of a female who was the grand daughter of a champion, Turcodos. These pups were left with the trainer for almost 2 years during which time i visited very infrequently; but, these pups seemed to have bonded with me and welcomed me on each visit. I was impressed with their development and the love for the Mal just grew.
Just for info, I live in Trinidad, West Indies and bought these pups in Key West, Florida.

Today, I have 4 breeding females, 2 working males and am about to purchase a 20 month old male that has impressed me for studding.

There is a lot that I have experieced with these wonderful dogs in the past 5 years; that i will love to share; the reason for me breeding and keeping these dogs go beyond the opportuinites I see from a business point of view.

I cruise this site once in awhile, it doesn't get that much activity though so I probably only come check the posts once a week.   I've had Malinois for 16 or 17 years now.  Mainly compete in French Ring but I like to dabble in just about everything.  My main dogs right now are:

The Girls:
Calice du Dantero ("Cali") - FRII (competed in FRIII), PSA1, SchBH, CD, HCTs, HIAs, HTDIs, HRDIs, TFE-I, FDCh-G, CGC, Major pointed (BOB), HOT, 2003 NARA FRI Vice Champion, #6 Belgian Malinois 2007 AKC Herding Rankings, High in Trial Alternate Breed 2008 WPTCA National Championship, bunch of other stuff to but it's to long to list, semi-retired
Nexxus to E du Dantero ("Nexxus") - HSAs, HRDIs, RLFI, PT, HCT-s, CGC, CHIC, HOT, HRDIIs (1st leg), RLFII (1st leg), #10 Belgian Malinois 2008 AKC Herding Rankings, also training in Flyball and Schutzhund and will be competing in both in 2010
Dantero’s Red River Rapids ("Chaos"), FRIII, RN, HCT-s, CGC, CHIC, HOT, 3rd place Gold Coast K9 Working Dog Competition, semi-retired but still doing decoy selections, dog in white, and my start trialing in Mondio Ring.
Pakita du Dantero ("Kita") - CSAU(Exc), my next competition dog, will start trialing in FR this year
Dantero's Gidget ("Gidget") - no titles yet, actively training in Sch/FR and will be trialing this year.

The Boys:
Dantero’s Mac de Dubois ("Mac") - FRIII (1st leg), RATP(K9), CGC, CHIC, HOT
Havok du Dantero ("Havok") - FRI, RN, PT, HCTs, CGC, CSAU, HOT, 2009 NARA FRI Championship Cup 2nd place

I also co-own a number of dogs and am a French Ring judge.  There is more information on myself and my dogs at www.dantero.com for anyone who really cares :-)

Wow nice to meet you all, I very much love this breed and would never go back to another. Once you own a mal and they fit who you are you'll never go back to another either. They are so easy to train and so versitile, you can ask them to do anything and well they do it. The only thing I have not seen them used for is field trials. I am thinking I may try one of my lower drive dogs in that department. As well as a seeing eye dog. I may donate a pup from my next litter to the blind dog society, one that is also fairly low drive but enough drive to be able to work. Because I sometime cross a showline with a working line I will get dogs that are not at all hectic but still have drive. I will talk to the people in charge of that and see what I can come up with.
