Falcon12

I've always been intrigued by this GSD.  I was hoping to start a discussion on this dog relative to his importance to the working lines, his accomplishments, conformation, temperament, etc.  Was he ever in the US? Is his kennel name still around? I'd like to learn as much as possible about this important GSD.  Thanks all...

Falcon,
if I remember correctly, Yoschy died in 2000 around his 9th birthday. His homepage is up again after being off the net for a while. If you can read German or use an online translator, you find most pertinent Yoschy information here: www.wilden-sueden.de . If you click "Bilder", there is a slide show of Yoschy. His owner Martina Mosdorf writes that he visited the U.S. with her once, but he lived in Germany, of course. You could email her for more detiaied info on that USA visit.
What I know of Yoschy is:
- His mother Mona was a long stockcoat but is considered a top producer.
- Yoschy is considered to be a top representative of the Troll-line in character (his mother was also bred to Timmy and the result was different - see T-litter "von der Döllenwiese", namely Tay)
- linebreeding on Yoschy produces hard working dogs
- Yoschy was a true medium sized dog with his 63 cm height
- showline people talked about him when he was first breed surveyed since his anatomy was so excellent for "being a workingline dog" (including Hand-Peter Rieker who surveyed him both times).

I just listened to a well-known guy rant and rave about my girl (he had no idea she was out of my breeding), listing about 15 things he likes about her. Then later he went into a whole nother discussion about how females out of Yoschy lines aren't worth a damn. Well...the female he likes so well is linebred on Yoschy. All my girls are. This guy claims that females out of Yoschy lines have weak nerve....never once even close to true in my own experience! Sure, there's a stud involved too, but generally they also have a touch of Yoschy in there or I wouldn't have picked them.

I just don't know who to listen to any more. Seems like people just like to feel their lips moving.

Odd...my Yoschy granddaughter, who looked just like Gramps, also died at 9. Not a genetic issue though, unless towel eating runs in the blood.

The Döllenwiese kennel is still active, and IMO highly regarded today.  Many of their current producers are derived through Yoschy, and many other kennels are also producing successfully well on these lines.  My personal favorite dog that I own (below) is linebred 3-3,4 on Yoschy, and I eventually plan to linebreed further (4,4,5-5,6*) on the Yoschy lines (as well as 4-5 on Nick Heiligenbösch).  Many dogs I've had a personal admiration for, before even knowing their breeding, often turned out to have Yoschy behind them.  Conformation, I don't know or care as much, the biggest attraction to me is the character and drives.  The dog-handler relationship is the best I've experienced, with great enthusiasm for work and eagerness to interact, and the responsiveness is quick and fully committed.

Wow, those two faces sure look alike...same as my Yoschy girls' faces. Yoschy granddaughter on left,
double great granddaughter on right. The one on the right is about to give someone hell for getting too
close.

Please share more if possible;  love some more pictures of progeny.

PS:  I gather that semen collection and storage is not legal in Germany;  this boy would have been a good one to have collected and frozen.  What a shame.

Yes, I second what Nans gsd said.  Thank you to all that have posted info about this dog.  I want to learn as much as possible about all these great dogs that everyone recognizes by name (Troll, both of them, Timmy, Nick, Fero, Eros, ....etc)  Keep it coming please.
