Is my bitch in heat? clear fluid - Page 1

I'm inquiring of some experienced breeders out there. My 14mo GSD I think is showing signs of her first heat?? But I'm confused by the fact that she had clear (very, very, slightly off colored) leakage . Then on day 2 I noticed (3) 3inch pools of clear/foamy/slightly mucusy discharges on the floor. Now on day 4 and 5 I haven't seen any spotting or leakage??

The other signs she shows are excitablilty, no appetite (going on for 2 months) and would you believe she had a poop accident on our guest bed today!! (we haven't had a poop or pee accident in 8 months!) Her vulva is slightly more swollen than normal.
She is an indoor pup, and we are in a subdivision so we have no Romeos roaming.

Everywhere that I've read about cycles says the textbook, "They start with bloody discharge changing to clear. I think somehow we missed that, or this is something else."

Any of your input would be helpful, I wasn't planning on rushing off to my vet only to have her laugh at me! I did however read some advice online that said, "if you have any doubt that your females cycle isn't normal see a vet, since there are some health problems associated" (haven't found out what those problems are!)

that does not sound normal I would take her in today!

I have noticed that some females do have whitish to clear discharge about 5 to 10 days prior to actual period when she starts having blood discharge.

pyometra can kill just as fast as parvo....
Get her to the vets!

 Thanks for all you input and concern. Her temp is normal, and there has been no leakage again today (day 6) I made an appt to have her seen. Of course all my kids always get sick on the holidays when their regular doctors are never around!

If she is an indoor dog you would not have missed blood.
It could be one of many things, don't panic,
let the vet have a look.

Although I'm sure this has been asked a hundred times. I'm a novice, so please have some paitience with me if and when I ask stupid or over asked questions. and I have only one ...this time.

1. when is it a good age to breed a female?

First off, I'm not planning to breed my female anytime soon. So no worries there. The reason why I asked is my 9month old female just went into heat.

Lukemoua,that was a very good question...I would say anytime between one and half to two years would be a right time to have the first litter.
For show lines, the puppies are granted registration only if the dam is one and half years or older at the time of delivery depending on the rules of the club for each nation.
I would say, around two years would be the best time.Then again there are lots of other factors as some breeders wait for the show-line female to complete her title before putting her up for it.
